The Sunset Republic of Polgaria is a titanic, genial nation, ruled by the Federal Assembly with a fair hand, and notable for its complete lack of prisons, multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, and hatred of cheese. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful population of 17.932 billion Polgarians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The enormous, socially-minded, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zalnoch. The average income tax rate is 98.1%.

The frighteningly efficient Polgarian economy, worth a remarkable 2,783 trillion Euros a year, is highly specialized and mostly made up of the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Book Publishing and Tourism. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 155,237 Euros, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

50% of adverts on children's television are for clothes made of cotton wool, students are wary of colorfully decorated new teachers with names like Professor Pipsqueak, school kids who pretend to drive imaginary cars get a social worker and a police observer assigned to them, and the real art was the AI friends we made along the way. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Polgaria's national animal is the eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.
