The Crown Colony of East Plate is a titanic, cultured nation, ruled by Governor Lucas Higgins with a fair hand, and remarkable for its irreverence towards religion, absence of drug laws, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic population of 11.607 billion Eastplatines hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The relatively small, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Administration, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Montevideo City. The average income tax rate is 13.6%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The strong Eastplatine economy, worth 829 trillion Eastplatine Pounds a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Cheese Exports, and Furniture Restoration. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 71,494 Eastplatine Pounds, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

All footpaths have tollbooths, there is a growing belief that mothers love their children more than fathers, parents are always up to speed on the latest childcare techniques, and the nation faces constant invasions by foreign boy bands. Crime is totally unknown. East Plate's national animal is the Southern Lapwing, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Anglicanism.

East Plate is ranked 131,875^th in the world and 2,056^th in The North Pacific for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 563 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
