He picks a black double breasted 4-button jacket, a white shirt, and a black tie. He puts on his Order of the Three Golden Fleeces pin on his chest as well as his usual golden jeweled rings paired with a gold watch. He quickly polishes his shoes before making his way back to the officers. He opens his arms while holding his cigarette case so they can pat him down and then blindfold him. While they pat him down, he decides to joke a bit with the officers hoping to get at least a chuckle. “You know, this won’t be my first time being blindfolded, if you know what I mean.”

The officers pat Vasco down before blindfolding him. They then lead him from his apartment and take the elevator up from floor 219 to the megabuilding's helipad. They board their helicopter, Vasco in tow, and take off.

The black helicopter soars between the building peaks of the city. It doesn't take long for the helicopter to reach the walled government quarter known as the Gordon or "Garden", flying over the government buildings, monuments, and the large cruciform government apartment buildings before finally landing on Kersnan Island. Two of the officers, clad in their black suits, disembark with Vasco and lead him into one of the secret entrances of the Kersnan Palace, not wanting to use the front entrance so as to avoid nosey paparazzi. They lead a blindfolded Vasco through a labyrinth of hallways before finally arriving in the Withdrawing Room where Khemorlink Hyagnos Pehulos is awaiting them.

"Take off his blindfold and leave us." Hyagnos says, waving her hand to dismiss the two officers.

Before the blindfold is even removed Vasco can tell by Khemorlink Pehulos' voice that she has an Agenorean accent, more specifically an Anean one.

Khemorlink Pehulos is clad in a fine silk Anafestinan gown with a deep-v neckline that shows off her collarbones, with gold and silver brocade and decorated with pearls. Her long brunette hair is styled with interlacing braids, her piercing eyes of brown, and her features are a distinct mic of the most beautiful features of Anean and Hyperborean feminine form. She gives a partial bow of her head in greeting to Vasco as his blindfold is removed.

"Good evening Mr. Zambrano. I am Chamberlain Agenese Polo, and let me be the first to welcome you to the Kersnan Palace. I've a few things to get you up to speed, so pay attention. You have been invited to have dinner with the Heregan and his family. It is an informal and private family dinner, and is considered a great honor. This is to be a more informal meeting but you are still considered bound by the traditional Hyperborean practice of ghostis. Ghostis, as you may or may not know, is a word which means both guest and host as today's guest could be tomorrow's host and today's host is tomorrow's guest. An ancient concept and tradition that came about from strangers meeting on the steppe being potential friend or foe. The Heregan and family is obligated as host to provide you food, shelter, safety, a gift, hospitality, and security for you on your journey to your next destination. You, as guest, are obligated to be courteous and respectful and not a threat or burden. You, and any children you may have in the future are also obligated to host the Heregan and his family should they ever visit and call upon you in the future. That obligation does transfer to your heirs if it is never called upon in your lifetime. This is more casual so don't worry about an exchange of gifts or anything." The Chamberlain takes a breath after having gotten the cultural lesson out of the way.

"Now if you'd be so kind as to follow me, I'll lead you into the Imperial Apartment and announce your arrival to the family." Chamberlain Agenese leads Vasco to a set of large wooden double doors. She knocks a few times before she turns the brass knob and leads Vasco inside.

Imperial Apartment Interior:
The sound of music fills the Imperial apartment as Heregina Huveral is in the apartment's small kitchen, checking on some food she has cooking in the stove. She's wearing a simple floral pattern gunne sax maxi dress. She's bent over looking through the oven door, checking on the food when she feels a hand on her backside. "Someone is trying to sneak a bite before it's time for dinner. That's a quick way to get burned you know?" She says, a subtle smile forming on her lips as she stands and turns to see her husband, Heregan Adamanus, standing there, clad in his black caftan and silver mask.

Adamanus chuckles slightly, not moving his hand, "I can't help it. I was drawn in by the most delicious smell. And low and behold here you are." He says as Huveral turns to face him, his arm wrapping around her waist as he holds her close.

"Oh you must be starving for sustenance, mey hemos" Huveral says teasingly, her hands resting on his shoulders before she stands on the tips of her toes to press a kiss to the metal lips of Adamanus' mask, "But you and I both know that we don't have enough time to satisfy our appetites," she says with a chuckle, her hand patting his metal cheek, "Agenese told me Vasco had been picked up and should be here any minute now."

"I can send word to have the helicopter circle the city." Adamanus chuckles as he holds Huveral close.

Huveral pats his chest, "Nice try, but we both know there isn't enough fuel in that helicopter for you and I have enough time to have our fun. Besides, the kids are coming any moment too." Huveral listens to the music for a moment as she hears one of her favorite songs begin to play, her hips slowly beginning to sway, "But... I may have an idea to keep you occupied." She says, her body swaying more in Adamanus' arms, a loving smile on her face as she looks up at him.

Adamanus chuckles and shakes his head as he begins to slowly dance and sway with Huveral, "I see what you're doing. Disco, really?" He asks with a laugh.

"Oh, you know you love this one mey hemos." She chuckles as they begin to dance, her arms over his shoulders looped around his neck, her hips swaying.

"Only because I love you." Adamanus says with a chuckle as he and Huveral dance from the kitchen through the open space of the apartment.

As they dance, the moment is suddenly interrupted by the ring of a telephone from the Heregan's study followed by the knock and then voice of Khemorlink Pehulos as she enters the Imperial apartment, "Meyn Heregan! Meyn Heregina! Count Vasco Zambrano has arrived!"

Adamanus and Huveral cease their dancing and lock eyes for a moment as they hold each other, Adamanus let's out a sigh and a slight chuckle, "Impeccable timing as always with these things. And just when we were started to have our fun."

Huveral kisses the metal lips of Adamanus' mask before patting his chest, "You answer your call, I'll answer the door."

The couple reluctantly pulls out of the other's arms, the Heregan heads down the hall to his study while Huveral turns down the volume of the record player, changing the record to some instrumental bossa nova, and heads to the foyer.

The Kersnan Palace is the seat of executive power in the Hyperborean Empire and also serves as the residence of the Heregan, Hyperborea's chief executive and head of state.

The site of the Kersnan Palace is an island, the largest of the former Commoriom Archipelago, in Lake Hemor, situated roughly equidistant between the mouth of the Kemiscea River, the Togora-Hapas River Delta, and the Lake Hemor-Torgay River Outlet. This also places it at just south of center of Lake Hemor.

In 7851 HE it is known in historical and archeological records that the site was occupied by a circular stone fortified settlement of approximately 2000 people. Historians and archeologist believe, due to archeological finds during modern renovations, that the site had been home to a wooden fortified settlement prior to the stone city. The Commoriom Archipelago's position in the lake made it a easily defensible location compared to the open flat ground of the steppe and made it an outlier of fixed permanent settlement in a world dominated by nonadic pastoralism. It is from the many successful defenses of this early island settlement that the settlement, the island it sat upon, and the archipelago of islands, got their name: Commoriom; which roughly means a "place of dying together."

It's position also served as a natural rendezvous point for merchants to congregate, bringing goods from all across the Hyperborean steppes and boreal forests to one point from which they could be traded down the Torgay river to traders along the northern route of the Ribbon Road. This trade became so plentiful that Commoriom would become one of the major stops for traders along the northern route of the Ribbon Road.

As time passed and Commoriom became a larger more important settlement, the settlement grew in population and while the fortification initially attempted to keep up, they could only expand so far. So settlement primarily took place outside of the walls of fortification and the original fortification became a seat of power, a protective military citadel and center of city administration. This fortification saw changes and renovations over time as new forms of warfare came of age, weapons adapt and evolve and defenses adapt and evolve with them. A key feature of the stone fortress which was maintained throughout the ages was the dark black stones that made it up, which would eventually lend to the name of the fortress, this black stone, coupled with the fog and mists of the lake often caused the fortress to seemingly vanish from view, leading to many legends of an island city which could not be conquered and could vanish beneath the waters, leading to the tenebrous and black nature of the fortification being attributed.

As time progressed and the city grew, the Commoriom Archipelago would see its islands expand and grow through land reclamation until they were islands no longer and were eventually the Commoriom Peninsula. The island upon which the Kersnan Palace sits was saved from this land reclamation for defensive reasons and remains the sole island of the Commoriom Archipelago. It is in the 11480s to 11880s that the fortress saw its reshaping from older forms to the current polygonal bastion fort structure which it retains today. With time and decline of direct overland threats to Commoriom, the fortress palace would gradually transition more and more into the role of an administrative center and executive residence. It would be in the 11940s that the palace would see the renovation that gave the palace its famous mid-century modern style interiors which have become a timeless permanent fixture ever since. Despite it becoming more of an administrative and residential structure over the years, the fortress still retains its three hundred and twenty gunports and guns, sixty-four per side, with the guns having been updated with the times along with other defense and offensive weapons and systems having been added.

Public Function Spaces
Press Hall

The Press Hall is probably the most recognizable room of the palace for the vast majority of people. It's from this theater that the administration gives daily press briefings to the pool of news media and sometimes addresses the nation.

Throne Room

The Throne Room—set up with elaborate pomp—raised, with steps, and under a canopy, is a setting for the Heregan to preside 'in majesty' over official ceremonies, to hold council, to grant audiences, to receive homage, to award high honors and offices, and to perform other official functions. Any of these could just as well be transferred, even on a permanent basis, to one or more other rooms, even outside the palace or ambulant. It can also be where the royal court can gather. The Throne Room's round shapes is to mimic and pay homage to the circular tents that the traveling Heregan's of yore ruled from. There is currently the throne for the Heregan and Heregina, as well as seats for their four children the Preyn, Hutor, Kuetorisa, and Terton.

Stateroom

The Stateroom is one of the most lavishly decorated in the palace and contains the finest works of art and even a bar. The Stateroom is generally meant to accommodate and entertain distinguished guests, especially a head of state and/or their consort, or other high-ranking aristocrats and state officials, hence the name. The Stateroom is also used to host ceremonies as well as parties and fundraisers for various causes and organizations that the Heregan and family deem as important. A place where the Imperial family and the public have a chance to mingle together and interact.

Great Hall

The Great Hall is where the Heregan and family can receive guests and where public feasts and balls are held. The Heregan's high table is on a dais and is where the Heregan, family, friends, and special guests dine together.

Hallways

It is possible to walk between any two points in the Kersnan Palace in less than ten minutes, though the optimal route may involve a brisk walk, routing through the open-air central courtyard, or both. The complex includes eating and exercise facilities as well as meditation and prayer rooms for palace staff.

Offices

The Kersnan Palace is one of the world's largest office buildings, with about 6.5 million square feet of floor space, 3.7 million square feet of which are used as offices. It is through the work of people in the administrative offices of the Kersnan Palace that the gargantuan task of governing a large nation like Hyperborea is made reality.

Cabinet

The Cabinet is the official private meeting space in the Kersnan Palace where the Heregan meets with advisors, secretaries, and foreign leaders.

Withdrawing Room

The Withdrawing Room is connected to the Stateroom and it is where the Heregan and family may withdraw to with friends and guests of their choosing from Stateroom events for a greater degree of privacy. It is from the Withdrawing Room that one can access the various Imperial Apartments.

Imperial Apartments

The Withdrawing Room functions similar to a lobby or common area for the Imperial Apartments where the Heregan and Imperial family take residence and special guests such as friends of the family may stay during visits. There are eight apartments for the Imperial family and close friends or relatives, of which the largest is the Hereganal apartment, with four slightly smaller apartments having historically served as the rooms of the Heregan's children and have since become their official private residences. There are also eight guest rooms which are smaller and simpler suites for visiting guests and select staff to stay during longer stays. Below are images from the Heregan's personal residence.

I would say "Inspired by Hedra" but this has got to be trolling the "Hedra and Vostag are the same person" people at this point. Inspired by Hedra all the same though.

IC: Vasco offers the Heregina a respectful bow of his head, a polite smile forming on his lips.

“The pleasure is entirely mine, madam. I must thank you and the Heregan for extending such a gracious invitation. I confess, I hadn’t expected to find myself dining with the Imperial Family this evening. Let alone a private dinner.”

He straightened, briefly taking in his surroundings before returning his attention to Huveral.

“And I must say, the Palace is even more impressive in person. I hope I haven’t interrupted anything.”
