Greetings nations of Lewisham,
Here is the Turkic World News of June 2022
06/06/22: 27 years later Qazaqstan, to start a period which would be called "the new Qazaqstan", held a constitutional referrendum, second since their national history. Question was "Do you accept amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Qazaqstan set forth in the draft Law of the Republic of Qazaqstan "On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Qazaqstan", published in the media on 6 May 2022?". Referrendum resulted in "Yes" with 77.18%.
The new constitution will clearly state that Qazaq soil, along with natural sources under the earth, belongs to the nation (previously state owned). Death penalty will be abolished. President and many other authorities will not be able to become member of political parties as long as they are in charge.
14/06/22: Crimean Tatars on the occupied peninsula are experiencing the greatest repression. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a video address to the participants of the American Jewish Committee Global Forum. "The Russian army has destroyed the communities, in which the Greek community has lived for centuries. The Crimean Tatars on the occupied peninsula are experiencing the greatest repressions. Russian rockets hit Babyn Yar in Kyiv, a Russian missile damaged the Menorah in Drobitsky Yar near Kharkiv”, Zelensky said.
20/06/22: Composer and artist Iraqi Turk Muhammed Ahmed Erbilli passed away at 89. His compostions went beyond Iraq and were heard in Istanbul, Kirkuk, Azerbaijan and more. 12 songs that were popularized by Ibrahim Tatlıses are compositions of Erbilli, like "Yallah şoför", "Almağa gelin", "Yandım televizyonun elinden" and "Kızlar el ele verin". (Editor's Note: Iraq Turks/Turkmens are of a different ethnicity than Turkmens)
Kurdistan Regional Government authorities opposed Muhammed Ahmed Erbilli's coffin being covered by Turkmeneli flag. Kurd authorities' claim was that the Turkmeneli flag symbolizes a political party. Minutes later the flag was removed. Iraqi Turkish journalist Mustafa Kemal Yılmaz reports.
24/06/22: China's Australia embassador Xiao Qian was interrupted by protestors during speech. Demonstrators shouted to "stop the genocide" in Xinjiang and "Tibet remains colonised". One asked: "How about freedom of speech in China?". The Guardian
29/06/22: Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture opened “Resmin Türkçesi: Türk Dünyasının Tuvalde Buluşması” exhibition, which features works by artists from the Turkic world and Turkey, spanning seven countries on two continents. (Editor's Note: Exhibition's name translates to "The Turkish of Painting: Meeting of the Turkic World on Canvas". The word "Turkish" in this context means language and not nationality.)
The exhibition can be visited in "Tophane-i Amire Kültür Merkezi" for free from 28 June to 3 July. Includes works of Akmal Nuridonov and Alisher Alikulov from Uzbekistan, Arif Aziz, Refik Aziz and Sakit Mammadov from Azerbaijan, Eldar Aitmatov, Yuristanbek Shygaev and Musakeev Temirbek from Kyrgyzstan, Sembigali Smagulov from Qazaqstan, Hüssein Husseinov from Turkmenistan, Devrim Erbil, Ergin İnan, Kadir Ablak, Mahir Güven, Süleyman Saim Tekcan and Yalçın Gökçebağ from Türkiye. kültür.istanbul

"Security didn’t take any action against this violent attacker but they did drag me backwards down a flight of stairs for holding signs supporting Australian political prisoners in China and calling for an end to Uyghur Genocide" Drew Pavlou says and reports.

* Volunteer journalists/interviewers still wanted! Telegram Large Ladz, New Natica, or Duelandia
Hello once again, my fellow Anubians! It’s been a while since our last issue of the Duat Stela (my fault!), so there’s a lot of new things to discuss! First and foremost is our recent election, which saw our long-time resident New Natica take over the mantle of Pharaoh, as well as some new faces stepping up to take on positions in the government, notably Wyndeep, and Caromon. I’ve heard that the incoming administration has some big plans for Anubis! New Questions of the Day, regional events, and a new regional roleplay are all things to look forward to in the future!
As always, I am so thankful for our wonderful citizens who make this community possible. We’ve had some cross-membership with our allies in In the Forrest recently, and their contributions to our region have been invaluable. I would also like to thank all of our wonderful authors, who have contributed to making the Duat Stela one of the premiere regional newsletters in NationStates. I know there are many regions much larger than Anubis who aren’t able to produce newsletters of this quality, so I would really like to emphasize how proud I am of this community and our contributors. I would especially like to recognize our fabulous editor - in - chief Duelandia for their tireless efforts. Duelandia has put an exceptional amount of time and effort into creating The Duat Stela and developing our region as a whole. They’ve been consistently working to the betterment of this region since day 1, with the true extent of Duelandia’s work often going unrecognized. I would be hard-pressed to find anyone who has contributed more to the development of this region than Duelandia (myself included). Thank you everyone for making Anubis what it is today!
Regional News Anubis' second regional election has concluded! The polls officially opened June 9th, 2022 with what should have been a predictable turnout. Halfway though the polling cycle, however, the then incumbent Pharaoh Pumaxi withdrew their candidacy - sending shock waves throughout the region! As Pharaoh, Pumaxi was the de jure Party Leader of the ANUBIS STRONG Initiative, and without a return tenure to the office, ASi leadership fell to party co-founder Duelandia [me]. With party leadership retrograding, Founder Duelandia of the ASi quickly released a follow up statement declaring the ASi would fully support the write-in candidacy of New Natica. Former-Pharaoh Pumaxi, ASi party co-founder and First Pharaoh of Anubis decided to withdraw their candidacy so as to step away from regional politics to focus on real-life - and that's perfectly fine. It's an incredibly responsible thing to do; to step back when you feel you need to show more attention to other areas of your life. Thank you for your service to our region, Pumaxi!
Pharaoh-Elect Natica is set to claim the delegacy after procuring four more regional endorsements! Once the polls were closed and the new government announced, Eternal Guide Large Ladz, encouraged all WA citizens of Anubis to swiftly endorse Natica. Thankfully during this busy time, I managed to pry the Pharaoh-Elect away from their new office for a quick sit-down-interview regarding the election results and their beginning journey as Pharaoh of Anubis. These are the questions, and the Pharaoh-Elect's responses:
Me, Duelandia : Let me first congratulate you on winning the election and becoming the second Pharaoh of Anubis! It truly was a historic election! When it was announced that Former-Pharaoh Pumaxi was withdrawing their candidacy, how did you feel about the ASi backing a full support movement of a write-in with your name on it?
Pharaoh-Elect Natica :
Me, Duelandia : Interesting! Your successful election to the pharaohship places you as the de jure party leader. Are you content with how the ASi party ran the government under your predecessor, or can we expect you to enact party changes under your leadership?
Pharaoh-Elect Natica :
Me, Duelandia : Ah! I see! And do you have any other hopes for yourself and the ASi to accomplish during your tenure serving as our pharaoh?
Pharaoh-Elect Natica :
I think it's safe to say that Anubis has elected yet another great pharaoh! I am confident that Pharaoh-Elect Natica will continue to bring respect, honour, and dignity to the pharaohship just as Former-Pharaoh Pumaxi did. It's apparent from my interview with Natica that all the things we loved about Pumaxi's tenure will be maintained, if not cultivated further! The Pharaoh's newly elected government include a domination of ASi party members, establishing that the Pharaoh's agenda for Anubis should be smoothly put into effect with little to no opposition. Senior ASi party members Duelandia and Rongardia Empire were as well reelected to their respected Vizierships, with newcomer Caromon being elected to the office of Security Vizier! Due to in-real-life matters, Community Affairs Vizier Rongardia Empire officially filed for an official respite pardon, handing most of the Viziership duties over to newly appointed Wyndeep! It was also announced by the Eternal Guide that Former-Pharaoh Pumaxi would remain on the Discord Moderators Team.
TEA CUP News TEA CUP Parliament elections have now concluded. The Democratic Party won the most parliament seats while having established a firm coalition with The Pirate Party. Party founders and party leaders, respectfully, were both elected to prominent offices within the TCP [Tea Cup Parliament]: Large Ladz (TPP) was elected to served as Secretary of Tea Cup Affairs and South Anistania (TDP) was elected to serve as Speaker of the House. Your list of TCP MPs are as follows:
Arg! You snuck up on me again! Child, Ol' Quidnunc here is starting to wonder if I'm losing my touch! Or maybe you just have a unusually adept skill at sneaking around! If the latter, I'm sure you've heard all the recent gossip yer'self right? What? You haven't? What do you do, just go around sneaking up on? Why I have never! Staking people isn't cute, you'll do well to 'member that, y'hear? Regardless... you don't know what's going on around you! I can't have that! Want Ol' Quidnunc here to catch you up on all the hot gos'? Of course you do!
This past April Fools Day, Max Barry announced the Inaugural Global Trade Fair - A NationStates on-site event about collecting, stashing, inspecting, and confiscating 'goods'. Every region in the world participated and at the end of the event, regions that acquired the most in a certain were ranked on leaderboards! Anubis came in 23rd for scoring the most tractor parts! How cool is that? Being the top 25 anything is a huge accomplishment for all Anubians who participated!
Now, you might be asking your self: "Why would the vast deserts of Anubis score high on tractor parts?" You'd be right in questioning this. But listen here... you're talking to your long time pal, Quiddie! You already know I have the deets! Y'see, I too wondered what in the world was Anubis doing scoring so high on the leaderboard when we as a region have no real business dealing in tractor-ware to this degree! So I started snooping, urg, *cough*, I mean... looking around and I found out all I need to know: The Eternal Guide was using his influence over our region to promote... dare I say it... agriculture! Don't believe me? I have the receipts!
Oh! Speaking of the power and influence our beloved Eternal Guide has! Did you know, long time citizen, friend, and Community Affairs Vizier Rongardia Empire has maintained a high role count on server for a while now! Recently Duelandia passed the bar set, but the benevolent Eternal Guide stepped in to correct the situation by assigning Ron his own personalized role "Ron"!
Special things in Anubis don't just begin and end with Ron's role count and my own daring attractiveness! Why, there's actually so many special things about Anubis that most may not have even known about! I know when tourists come and visit our beautiful region, that they're coming for me. I do realize this. So I'm taking it as my personal responsibility to promote other amazing Anubian things! *blushes* Like, did you know a vast majority of visitors, residents, and citizens of Anubis can nod in different languages! Probably not! Now you do~
I may have exaggerated, of course! A lot of folks travel far and wide to come to our Regional Message Board! Which, y'know? That's fine with me! Because some of the absolute hottest gossip is always available there! Like, honey! If you didn't know, Ol' Quidnunc here is from the deep south baby! I'm as southern as a june-bug tied to string in july! I had firstly assumed Quiddie was alone and was the only one raised up drinking 'shine in the hollers, singing Martina McBride at 3am, with a fire, eating deer jerky! I was wrong! Another long time resident, Shake Rag is also southern bred and raised!
Now, I have a truly horrible tragedy to tell you next! Have you ever of someone who was never exposed to the greatness that is pie! There's so many pies! Sweet southern peach cobbler pie, blackberry oie, apple & cinnamon pie, pecan pie, etc! Our friend Zeapalcosland has never had pie before! Can someone please bring them a slice of every known pie, stat!
Now, let's see here.. I had something else to tell you. Hmm.. What was it? Urg! I hate when this happens! Gimme a second to retrace my steps. Let's see, I was behind that bush right over there... hmm.. then I went and looked into Caromon's window to see what they were doing... yes.. and then I turned around to witness Wyndeep soulfully eating a bagel with applesauce across the street... and ye! That's it! Then I quickly ran to the newest building in town; the TEA CUP Office! I snuck my way in and found this laying on top the clerk's desk:
Interesting favourite colours, to say the least! But I would never judge... *wink*! That's super valuable information.. I might have keep sneaking in here and see exactly what I find! Have you been in there yet? No? Oh you should! It's sleek, clean, and super modern! An oddity here amongst the sand, mummies, and pyramids! Everyone, regardless if they're a TEA CUP citizen has access to the building, but it's way more fun for me to sneak in without folks knowing I'm there! You should sneak in with me next time! Meet me here: https://discord.gg/CjWnfkTp8R
Dunk! Shhh! What was that noise? Y'know this has been fun! I know you always enjoy yourself around Ol' Quidnunc, how can you not? But, listen.. that's really all I have for now. Let's split ways for now and regroup later, okay? I still have some lurking looking around to do. Until next time, Bye!
Earlier in the year, to celebrate the coming of Spring and the passing of Winter, Anubis hosted it's first ever Spring Photography Contest! Participants were allowed to submit up to three photographs or works of art that illustrate the coming of spring and the changing of seasons. Anyone from across the NSverse was welcome to participate in the contest - and the stakes were set high! We had so many absolutely amazing submissions of animals, trees, flowers, and much more! Each participant fully understood the assignment and truly delivered their best! The then incumbent Pharaoh, Pumaxi and Eternal Guide were both instructed to do the impossible and pick one from the heaps of submitted artwork and photographs that they liked the best! Both picked two photographs from Xvlaticolia! So congratulations to him for the amazing pictures! You can see them below, with some honourable mentions that Former-Pharaoh Pumaxi insisted we're deserving of showcasing:
'Soldiers, be ready and get to formation, the enemies are marching on our last bits of land within 2 minutes'. I assume you heard the announcement, I will now go, I will fight, and very likely, I would die. You can call me hopeless but I cannot hide the truth. I can't be like my encouraging comrades who think that they can defend the capital against army sizes 7 times larger than ours, an ongoing blockade, air inferiority and a desperate lack of tanks on our side. While I'm fighting, you will still be able to hear these monsters fight and wreck us. 'Tanks destroying Infrastructure Sounds', 'Crying of Fallen soldiers', 'intense, continuous shooting of guns', Ahhhhh... I have been shot. This is it. The end for us. Our country is falling, I'm.. I am dying. I.. I hope one day, our nation rises once again, ONE DAY."
This issue's Spice & Slice Panty's article is going to be all about breakfast! Not just one breakfast dish, but three to make a complete meal out of! It's certainly going to be delicious, and a pain to clean up! Let's dive right in and check out these goodie recipes:
1. French Crêpes (my favorite)
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of water
1/4 teaspoon of salf
2 tablespoons of melted butter
1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. Add the salt and butter; beat until smooth. (I do it by hand, not with a mixer.)
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
3. Cook the crêpe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Serve hot.
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 3/4 cups of milk
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
1 tablespoon of white sugar
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1. Preheat waffle iron. Beat eggs in large bowl with hand beater until fluffy. Beat in flour, milk, vegetable oil, sugar, baking powder, salt and vanilla, just until smooth. (Again, I mix it by hand. But you don't have to.)
2. Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot. (Check it periodically when cooking them to see if they're ready.)
3. Scrambled Eggs
4 large eggs (Or however many eggs you plan to eat.)
1/4 cup of half-n'-half (Half-n'-half is 50% milk and 50% heavy cream, hence why it's called half-n'-half.)
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
black pepper (for serving)
chopped herbs (OPTIONAL)
1. In a medium mixing bowl, aggressively whisk together the eggs, half-n-half, and salt until the mixture is uniform in color and texture, and is light and foamy, without any separate streaks of yolk or whites.
2. Melt the butter in a small nonstick pan over medium heat, until the butter coats the whole pan and just starts to foam. (Don't burn the butter. It was hard for me at first, but you'll get the hang of it.)
3. Add the eggs to the center of the pan and immediately reduce the heat to medium-low.
4. Wait for the edges to just barely start to set, then using a rubber spatula, gently push the eggs from one end of the pan to the other. Continue this process, pausing in between swipes to allow the uncooked egg to settle on the warm pan and cook, gently pushing the liquid to form the curds.
5. When the eggs are mostly cooked, with big pillow-y folds, but still look pretty wet, slowly fold the eggs into itself just a couple times, bringing them together. (Or if you don't like wet eggs, just cook for a little longer.)
6. Remove from the heat when the eggs still shimmer with some moisture.
7. Put it on a plate, feel proud of what you've done. Then realize you probably have a mess to clean up.
Thank you for reading this issue of The Duat Stela! A reminder to our readers that volunteer journalists and interviewers are more than welcome to freelance write for The Duat Stela regardless of the region you're native to! We also accept interregional pet submissions for the Meet Our Pets article, and of course, meme submissions are greatly appreciated! We sadly didn't have a What Does It Mean section this issue, but hope to next time! So submit those memes! Or maybe you have an article in mind that you'd like to see but not the time to write it yourself? Send your ideas to Duelandia and we'll see what can be done!
