The Community of New Cross SE14 is a titanic, cultured nation, ruled by Cockney Pearly King with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space, compulsory vegetarianism, and frequent executions. The compassionate, democratic, devout population of 11.95 billion Hatcham descendants are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Five Bells. The average income tax rate is 62.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but inefficient Newcrossed economy, worth 639 trillion chips a year, is led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Basket Weaving, Uranium Mining, and Arms Manufacturing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 53,480 chips, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Attempts to inform people about their unclaimed property are often mistaken for telephone scams, cave paintings are back in vogue, there's a bright dawn ahead for New Cross SE14, and people often feel unbalanced by their daily commute. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Cross SE14's national animal is the black fox, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is All Saints Church.

New Cross SE14 is ranked 14,858^th in the world and 1^st in Lewisham Library for Nicest Citizens, with 25.46 average smiles per day.
