Disagree. America would be even more disingenuous. Allowing China to have a heavier presence in the East China Sea and beyond would be outside of our interest and ruining what decades of history have fought for.

One could argue however that so long as that they aren't directly hurting us. A china that likes America and is on our side is better than one that hates us.
China would actually benefit the U.S as no more sanctions from both sides are there anymore and they would probably help each other technologically wise, thus making other allies not needed, or at least not as important.
China has lots and lots of Oil Reserves, if they were to share some with us it would be very good.
Plus, no longer would America be bound and restricted by NATO once more, meaning it can support Russia, meaning more economic growth or just whatever causes it may wish.
(not a Russian supporter but I am pointing out that fact.)

I used to have issues with him back when I had issues with Celdern. We semi-patched it up but never really had proper discussion. I also reached out to OTRSU in the same manner of conflict resolution, although you could assume the latter was resistant.
Well well well, I happened to spot this! Anyway:
0. (to MDL's bit): It is entirely within the USA's interest to keep the PRC in check in SEA. If we go by an American interest to continue being a world superpower, the PRC is the biggest threat. Disregarding that threat, or going as far as to try and buddy up with the CCP, is a very bad idea.
1. could argue that I suppose, though to suggest the argument has merit is another thing.
2. Communist China, which has quite the reputation for copying western technology? It's not a big leap in comprehension to say they wouldn't provide America with any significant technological assistance. Your suggested benefit to the potential relationship lacks grounding. Also, the communism is sort of an obvious detail where ideology takes precedent over what you can consider "practical." The only positive relations America has with any communist nation (of the ones that still exist) is with Vietnam, and in part it's due to Vietnam not being outright friends with China.
3. Most of US imports of oil come from Canada. Pretty sure, if we're concerned about oil, that America should be more worried about its northern neighbor than with an overseas nation. Heck, if we add Mexico in the mix, that's approximately 75% of US oil imports. I guess this is close enough to invoke the 80/20 rule so in this case ~80% of the oil comes from ~20% of the nations in which oil is being imported from. Of course, not a perfect rule. Also, share your source on Communist Chinese oil reserves.
4. Speculation much? America while it'd be nice to not be bound by foreign obligations I heavily doubt in any case that America would benefit in the short or in the long term to sideline western Europe in favor of Russia. Call me biased but Poland alone has been a big purchaser of US arms, and is also a NATO member. Poland is not the only one. How many nations are on the F-35 program? There's more money to be found in the depths of the NATO alliance, however frayed it may be, than there is to be found in Russia. Not even the vast natural resource deposits Russia has can make up for the pure economic capital found elsewhere.
Also, I explicitly replaced any use of "China" in my portion with their official name, or in my opinion a more accurate name: Communist China. The real Republic of China was kicked out in 1949, democratized, and continues to exist under the colloquial name of Taiwan. Openly endorsing and supporting the Chinese Communist regime as legitimate, especially in the context of American long-term interests, would be akin to a 1930s Britain endorsing the NSDAP. I know it's not a perfect comparison, but the fact communism and fascism are treated so differently in modern society is disgusting enough.
