It's not too bad where I am in Southern Ontario.
Air quality in Vancouver hasn't been great lately to begin with, and yesterday it took a noticeable turn to worse. Yesterday was very hot, around +33C for the most part of the day, with humidity higher than usual, today the same is expected. It was +24.4C in my apartment at 5am this morning (concrete high-rise building). Air is visibly orange, but not as bad as it was couple years ago. So far, compared to how things were in Vancouver in the past maybe 5-6 years, it feels bearable, not good, but bearable if you are not old, weak or generally not healthy. I've settled in Vancouver in 1995, and looking back to those late nineties - nope, it wasn't like this at all...
It'd been a pretty good smoke year, relatively, here in Edmonton - but in the last 48-72 hours it's kicked up quite a bit. I agree though, I can't wrap my head around this smoke as the new normal. Last 5 years? Yes. Rest of my life before that? Smoke was barely a consideration. It's brutal, for the last few years we've had weeks where you can't do anything outside. Just a depressing state of affairs.
Stormaen, Parkplace, and Maple Islands
I think the new reality has two causes. One - the global change in the weather (Global warming) and two - the improper deforestation. The "tree-huggers" say don't cut down trees, however, if we cut them down - they don't burn. How to prevent forest fires, cut down the forests.
Well, one can cut down only oh, so much - it's taiga, it's freakin' enormous.
Clearing the fuel from the forests, prescribed burns in the off season, would help, but the off season these days is too short and manpower is too thin, as for every industry. They really need to clear the dead growth.
I think active management is the key but even then it’s only going to achieve so much. As the world warms, even by fractions of a degree Celsius, it’ll turn northern boreal forests into tinderboxes.
The UK has even been getting its fair share of fires only they’re almost 100% caused by people not being fire wise (arson, discarded cigarettes, improper campfires, disposable barbecues, etc.).

This is the last race before the summer break, The venue is the HungaroRing near Budapest for the Hungarian GP.
Several teams have brought upgrades, and these seem to have been effective. McLaren were a little off in the top 4 shoot-out, and have closed up that gap, Aston Martin have finally taken themselves off the back row. Mercedes meanwhile are off the pace and scratching their heads a little. This track suits the Ferrari, and they have been strong throughout practice,

An excellent Q2 lap from Lindblad saw him through to the top 10, while his more experienced team mate Lawson just missed out. Racing Bulls have are now level with Alpine (who started the season as "best of the rest") and seem to be somewhat stronger at present. Williams are not faring well, and do not have an upgrade planned for several races yet.

You may also recall that we missed two races earlier in the season because of the war in the Middle East. These were officially postponed rather than cancelled, and now it seems likely that the 'Bahrain' GP will be held in Malaysia a week before Singapore.
