I'm not sure of the significance of Jan. 1st 1970 (Australian time) or Dec. 31st 1969 (American time) is to the moderator that had manually set the date, and I am sure that the story there would be interesting. It was something to do with a glitch in The Embassy refounding and the embassy had carried through.
