Loading...Jacobin Utopian Party yaaay
I'm not calling it Jacobin as that term is derived from the location where the first irl Jacobin Club met.
Utopian is both a nod to Old Utopia and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utopian_socialism so it's somewhat fitting.

Society of Utopians, Friends of Freedom and Equality
▇
The Society of Utopians, Friends of Freedom and Equality (commonly: Utopian Society | Toaseteian: Toazeunozhe Otopjajike, Wupjezojeka ete Wurjie oro Zhawjuroke) was an early Toaseteian political party founded in 1801 by the "Big Five" leaders of the previous Commune of the Dammed: Wjoreko Hedjosu "Lejine," Herijiteze Jodureti "Teretoseki," Mehejirikese eso Sowijeta, Mizhiaeri Jehene, and Wehirekezhe Zhjezhinoseki. Lejine, Teretoseki, and Sowijeta had previously spent a year in Lezra studying the Lucanian Revolution. Ideologically, the party combined elements of a Lucanian organisation of the same name with the "Big Five" 's own equalism. The Utopians participated in the broad Ijawahane-Front, which sought to modernise and reform the Great-Kingdom, and they quickly re-monopolised the anti-monarchy peasant movement under their leadership. Yet the volatile political scene of Toasete was reflected in the Society, which suffered frequent factionalism and multiple splits. The first major split formed the National Equalist Party, composed of nationalists and traditionalists, after an internal dispute over Great-King Feredazhe Ijawahane's homosexuality. Participation in the Ijawahane-Front was also divisive, as there were arguments about whether participation in the democratic process was likelier to achieve the party's political goals than revolution. The party eventually settled into two camps: the "Minority," led by Teretoseki and Jehene, and the "Majority," led by Lejine and Zhjezhinoseki. The origins of these names are unclear, especially since the "Minority" was the larger and more powerful camp. Some scholars believe that the terms may have derived from the pseudonyms "Lejine" and "Teretoseki " and their respective meanings in a now-lost dialect.
▇
After the 1802 elections, Teretoseki became chairman with the support of moderate egalitarians, replacing Sowijeta, which prompted the "Majority" faction to split and form the Communist Party. Despite the name, this group's identity was not tied to modern communism but instead inspired by a Lucanian novelist. Relations between the Utopians and Communists remained decent, and under Great-King Erijizho II's ruthless economic and military modernisation program, both groups cooperated. The Communists would prove popular among the peasants, while the Society would find an audience among the craftsmen and emerging labourers. Following a state visit by Lucanian President Biel Salvi, the two parties entered a formal alliance. After the Great-Federation was established, the Utopians, Communists, and United Party (Democrats/Liberals/Republicans) collaborated to depose aristocratic Chancellor Opjataze eso Bihesomarikes, replacing him with the Utopian moderate Opjizhate Mjiro. Mjiro's assassination by the aristocracy after abolishing serfdom triggered a political crisis: the UP (DLR) betrayed their previous allies and joined the National Equalists, the Centre Party, and the Aristocratic Union in a reactionary coalition, causing the Toaseteian Revolution. In which party structures became secondary. Some Utopians joined the White Movement and later fled to New Yuwodeyun. Others resisted the reunification of the Society and Communists into the Commoners' Movement of Toasete and continued operating under the name of the Society. In the long run, both the white and red remnants of the Society evolved into or merged with their respective social democratic parties.

One thing that will probably take ages for it to be noticeable in toastverse is that Toast does not really have a coal industry. Coal mining was not around until industrialization after the contact with Lezra and was not very popular, so after the revolution the development of a coal industry was dropped in favour of maintaining charcoal. The early "United Communes" were also structed (socially and politically) in a way that neither the government nor the small amounts of capitalism that existed back then could establish coal. This had the by-product that industrialisation would happen much more decentralised as charcoal is not that good for industrial use. (Later on Electricity would also be very decentralised in the forms of water and wind, which back then was also hard to scale). This wasn't really an issue because country big = much empty land. When the political system had become structured in a way that would allow the government to force a coal industry, the rest of the economy was already built-around the use of charcoal so there was no real need to massively dig for coal. Biodiesel would also become the primary liquid fuel source as it was more appealing for Toast to reinforce the farming industry instead of propping up the oil industry.
A neat bit of lore I came up with at some point but also have no idea on how to incorporate it properly.

Did you know in Pax Ivoricana, Ivorica had a small second Civil War?
Ironically, this Second Civil War greatly helped Ivorica rebuild its industry for the upcoming Third Great War.
