It is a pleasure to be among people who still value one of the most important principles in NationStates: sovereignty.

My nation has never had much affection for the World Assembly, and I suspect many of you share that sentiment. Our objection is not to cooperation between nations, but to the growing tendency of the WA to act as though it knows better than sovereign governments how their nations should be run.

Too often, the Assembly appears less interested in respecting diversity among nations and more interested in imposing a particular ideological vision upon everyone else. Whether the issue is social policy, environmental regulation, economic management, or cultural matters, the instinct is frequently the same: centralise authority, reduce local discretion, and replace national choice with international mandates.

We reject that approach.

If a nation wishes to pursue highly progressive policies, that is its sovereign right. If another chooses a more conservative, traditional, religious, or monarchist path, that too is its sovereign right. The beauty of NationStates lies precisely in this diversity.

This region was born from a dispute involving censorship and the suppression of debate. Whether I was right or wrong is not the point. The point is that disagreement should be answered with argument, not with silencing. A community that cannot tolerate debate eventually ceases to believe in freedom at all.

As Catholics, we believe freedom and responsibility must walk together. Liberty without responsibility becomes chaos, but authority without limits becomes tyranny. Even God grants humanity free will; it would be arrogant for political institutions to imagine they should possess greater authority over nations than nations possess over themselves.

For this reason, we remain firmly sceptical of the World Assembly and any attempt to transform it into a supranational authority capable of overriding the will of sovereign nations. Cooperation is valuable. Centralisation is not.

Here, we prefer a simpler principle: live and let live. Govern your nation as you see fit, and allow others to do the same.

I may not have the largest nation in the region, but I intend to contribute where I can. I enjoy rankings, development, and helping our region prosper and grow stronger. I look forward to working alongside all of you.

The Irish "Highest Temperature EVER" has stood for 130 years + up to this week.
Sadly after this week, it is STILL the HIGHEST TEMPERATURE EVER.

The talking heads are being very cool about it, but inside they must be boiling.
You know the way the media make and keep obituaries for the great and the good so they can release them as soon as they die - I think they must have had a plethora of 'ABSOLUTE PROOF NOW OF CLIMATE CHANGE' pieces ready to unload on us over the weekend.

Interesting that you write that now. 25% of Irish energy production is used by data centres, it was 5% 10 years ago. The investment is going fine. All to serve the corporations.
