HANOI - (TST) Premier Chinh Hoang announced today at the Premier Palace that an “Expeditionary Force” code name “Chi Long” after the Sino-Saianese mythical dragon of protection will be formed as part of Operation “Rising Tides.”

Chi Long Expeditionary Group is tasked to retrieve Saianese citizens and IUSN citizens that are currently trapped on the Hawaiian archipelago or were unaccounted for during the initial hasty evacuation that was demanded by the Jones Junta.

The Supreme People’s Presidium passed Military Order 3-2424 unanimously, allowing the Chi Long Expeditionary Group to use any force deemed situationally applicable to defend itself, Saianese citizens, and Saianese assets accordingly, including lethal force.

Many Saianese have expressed mix opinions regarding the issue, some taking to social media Tweeting their approval to the USSRS involvement into the Newmerican “Civil War” (NFP) to save Saianese nationals, whereas others are dismayed over the regional destabilization of the Pacific Theater which has affected Saianese key energy infrastructure as the USSR imports 1/6 of petroleum and oil products from Newmerica.

Rolling blackouts in the countryside were common through the December and February months, where most energy supplies were redirected to major cities as Sai-Newmerican civilian trade routes were disrupted. The Saianese Aerospace Industry, notably the Saianese branch of the Intercontinental Union of Socialist Nations Space Agency was plagued with project delays as critical aircraft hardware imports were pushed and canceled due to the Newmerican Civil War.

TAIPEI, March 27, 2024 (TST) — The Chi Long Expeditionary Force, a formidable naval fleet, embarked on its mission from the bustling Port of Taipei. Comprising the state-of-the-art USSRS Taichung Type-075 amphibious assault ship, two amphibious assault dock ships (the USSRS Macau and USSRS Phnom Penh), two Type-055 destroyers (the USSRS Trưng Trắc and USSRS Trưng Nhị), the imposing Kirov-class cruiser USSRS Chiang Mai, the swift Alexander-class Minesweeper USSRS Valor, and over 2,200 motivated People's Red Marines Corps, the fleet set sail with purpose.

In a parallel development, an unverified report suggests that the enigmatic Typhoon-class carrier, USSRS Stone Fish, also departed from the Port of Fuzhou during the same timeframe. The presence of these naval assets underscores heightened regional tensions and strategic maneuvers in the Pacific maritime theater.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Chi Long Expeditionary Force and the elusive Stone Fish sailed into the vast expanse of the open sea, leaving behind a wake of anticipation and intrigue of port onlookers.

It's an election year in Mathorn, in November the nation will go to the polls in Congressional and Presidential elections. Whilst both branches of government are equally important, most observers are focused on the race for George House. The Conservatives' candidate, President pro tempore of the Senate and Senator, Lewis Wood, is in pole position.

Wood's campaign is ahead in every opinion polls and the other main party, the Liberal Party, does not have a clear candidate heading into the party's convention. This is widely seen as a weakness, and is something that a major political party has not experienced since the election of 1759. The Conservatives also have a massive financial advantage at this stage of the campaign, having M£45 Million cash on hand, compared to the Liberal's M£20 Million.

The Liberals, having won the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections with disgraced President Sam White, are searching for a candidate after President Zoe Sharp ruled herself out of the contest. Former President Adam Carver (2021-2022) is seen as the forerunner, although he has not officially thrown his hat into the ring. In fact, no candidate has thrown their hat into the ring for the Liberals, with the party exhausted from scandal after scandal in recent years.

Other rumored candidates include Senator George Brown, an upon coming rookie Senator from the party's 2022 intake; Edmund George, the current Secretary of Defence; and Sarah Walker, the Current Vice-President. Numerous other candidates are being banded around, however, the party seems to be coalescing around one of the four main candidates.

The Liberals party convention runs from 20 May - 24 May, with the party's delegates voting to decide its presidential ticket on the Friday of that week.
