What have you been up to this week? ☺️
Well it’s not new, but last weekend I brought an old gong from a flea market, which I strike in honour of my canine companion, who is my unofficial therapy dog. ☺️
She’s 15 years old and looks a bit like Falkor the luckdragon from the movie The Neverending Story.
She’s in the winter of her years, but she still enjoys life and still LOVES food. ☺️
She has cataracts and is deaf now, so the gong’s sound doesn’t bother her, as she sleeps through it, but hopefully the vibrations will soothe her arthritis and well-being. ☺️
When I was laid up with my illness six years ago, my canine companion would not leave my side when I wasn’t in hospital. ☺️
I’m by her side now, and in striking the gong, I recite the mantra of Green Tara, Om Tare Tuttuta Ture Soha. ☺️
May Green Tara be there for her with compassion, and for me when she passes. ☺️

My current canine companion is the third I have had in my life, when she is gone from this world I will have no more. ☺️
As with elderly people, she has lost much of her muscle density with age, and being fifteen, in human years which equates seven years for every year of hers, my canine companion is 105 years old. ☺️
She doesn’t really bark anymore, due to not being able to see postal workers or hear visitors, and she leaves such matters for the other dogs in the neighbourhood, but she has the loudest bark of a canine companion much bigger than herself. ☺️
I miss it. 😢 It was that bark that said “Gerroffoutofit! You best watch it m’lad, or I’ll have your guts for garters!” Or it would be more joyous if it was a visitor she knows, like “Oi! Oi! You’re back! Yay! Bring out the bunting!” ☺️
But she still wags her tail, still loves her treats, if they are edible, and loves company, and keeping her body in contact with you and yours with her. she knows you are there, and you know that she’s there. ☺️
When she goes, which could be anytime soon, I will take some time away to grieve and I will be quiet. ☺️

对不起，I’ve been gone because of some mental health issues. I’m still dealing with some of that stuff, as well as being very busy, so I will just have to try my best to be present.
I’ll tell you a little bit about what I’m busy with, to give some more introduction to myself that I didn’t do before.
I’m very involved in my highschool theatre, and right now I’m a lead in a play we’re putting on (I won’t give details for my privacy, it isn’t a well known play and could be tracked back to me). After this production, it’s just another and another- such is the theatre way.
I also have homecoming this weekend, which is very exciting, and stressful as well. I have lots of honors and AP classes, so I really need to focus on school now that it’s in session again.
I am also staff for an organization that brings Model UN to students before secondary school- the name of which I will omit for my privacy. But that is also very time consuming.
