Red Wolf Alliance

Red Wolf Alliance - Following the ratification of the 3rd Constitution and the subsequent period of rebuilding and activity within the Directorate, the region once again fell into a late-winter slumber which caught many by surprise. Indeed, while the Directorate has mostly finished its process of reconstruction and ratified its rules of operation, the Alliance Council has been stuck in the debate period of its rules for over a month. In fact, many of the departments and bodies headed by colleagues of the General Secretary and his party are experiencing the same. The World Assembly Delegate, although not unusual for them, has also not moved an inch since the ratification of the new constitution. The Department of Foreign Affairs has also become dormant after a brief period of positive development regarding the renewal of diplomatic relations between the Red Wolf Alliance and The Democratic Republic. An outlier in this situation is the Secretary of Immigration and Recruitment Madison and Wisconsin, although many may point out that he is mostly notionally a member of the New Front and seems to be acting mostly independently of the party.

Nonetheless, the work of the SoIR has found fertile ground in mid-March and the region has notably increased both its residency size and its citizen count. While we have yet to see any of these new citizens become active and contributing members of our society, the hard work of the Secretary can not go unnoticed. This was, however, only the start of a much bigger awakening that came with the warmer weather and greener scenery this month. And nowhere is this more prominent than in the Department of Regional Affairs which has this month published the Roleplay Revitalization Action Plan - a document outlining the first stage of the process of roleplay reconstruction and reform in the region. The Action Plan outlines the process of choosing a new map and implementing new guidelines on the process of map spot claiming. Even more importantly, the Action Plan announced the implementation of a Roleplay Act which would replace the handful of regional laws regulating roleplay that have been inherited from the old system. While the public is yet to see the contents of the actual bill, and we are still far away from it being tabled within the Directorate, this action plan and the SoRA's ambitions are a very welcome change in the inactivity of the Directorate.

The Democratic Republic - Many within our region were delighted by the news coming from The Democratic Republic (TDR) earlier in February about the change of power which as a consequence also brought a change of TDR's opinion of the RWA. The two regions have been long-time allies, TDR also having been founded by a former citizen of the RWA. However, this long relationship didn't come without its ups and downs. The relationship between the two regions sometimes changes three or four times within a calendar year. So why were these news from TDR such a big deal within the Red Wolf Alliance?

Well, first and foremost, it was a good sign for the foreign policy of a region that is in its most vulnerable state - that being a constitutional convention and complete restructuring of the region. The Red Wolf Alliance just came out of a year-long period of deterioration and no democratic government. Any help we could've gotten would've been good, but getting an offer of peace and friendship from a former, long-time ally is something we could've only dreamed of. Very quickly the Directorate started coordinating with the new leadership of TDR and, in a perfect world, that would've been the end of it. However, very soon after the ratification of the 3rd Constitution, something went wrong.

On February 17th, news broke of a struggle brewing within TDR. The newly elected leader, Pandor, was just banned following a heated debate with the regional elders. What our foreign reporters could gather was that the senior members of TDR did not like how much political power Pandor held on how he was using it. Pandor allegedly enforced a crackdown on the opposition, banning some and forcing others to leave due to hostility. This hostile environment, understandably, did not sit right with the founder of The Democratic Republic, America JB. To make things more complicated, Pandor is a popular leader. Many, especially newer citizens, saw him as a reformist who was getting things done.

At the time of writing, Pandor is still banned and, for now, the struggle has been squashed. However, not without consequences. Following the great purge, the region was left governmentless and what followed was a two-month-long period of deterioration of TDR's institutions and citizenship count. Our respondents from the region report very low activity and apparent dissatisfaction with the regional elders who took control. In many ways, TDR is now going through what the RWA was going through just a year ago. A regional split, inactivity, and failure of elders to take back control and steer the region away from failure. Many in TDR are now calling it a "fringe region". Seeing TDR's failure to cope with this post-struggle turmoil, the eyes are now also on the RWA. What is the Red Wolf Alliance doing and why are they not here for their ally? In a sense, the RWA and TDR are family. Both came from the same community and same friend group. Despite our disagreements in history, we are still relatives. It will be a great failure of our foreign policy if we leave TDR to die without a voice being heard.
