Re: poll
I went with the 'One Independence Movement With A Realistic Chance of Succeeding' option though that's probably not quite right.

Yahlia is a post-Yugoslav republic. Yugoslavia, in my timeline, (somewhat unrealistically) annexed southern Romania and all of Bulgaria (along with some Greek lands that Bulgaria had acquired to act as a buffer between Turkey and Greece) in the post-WWII map redrawing. When Yugoslavia collapsed following the death of Tito, there were stirrings in all ethnic groups and regions. Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro all declared their independence. The remaining lands (made from the states of Vojvodina, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Thrace, Bulgaria, and Wallachia) opted to remain united as Yahlia. However, there were still some independence movements among these groups in the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, Yahlia experienced rapid economic growth over 2000-05 and the government, from 2005-onwards, pumped extensive funds into promoting multiculturalism, religious tolerance, developed a strong federal system, and continued economic growth which has made almost all independence movements wither into a tiny minority as Yahlia became a prosperous nation of nations. (It also helps that other countries, such as the remains of Romania, are stagnating economically and have a lower standard of living than Yahlia.

The only secession movement with significant support is in the old Greek lands that became Bulgarian and then Yugoslavian. Nationalism remains strong in this region and despite Greece also struggling economically, many desire to be reunited with their cousins across the border. The Greek separatist party is a major party in the opposition in the Thracian state and has a few seats in the national legislatures. However, the younger generation is generally pro-Yahlia and as the days pass, political pundits view it as increasingly unlikely that secession and reuniting will occur.

Day Two - Our Socialist Unity Party of Germany Holds Extraordinary Congress in Berlin; the 20th Congress of the Party since its Founding in 1949

EAST BERLIN - On the second day of the Extraordinary 20th Congress of the Socialist Unity Party, delegates have been voting on various issues, hearing from esteemed Party comrades on the work that is being done on behalf of the worker's and peasant's state, and have engaged in vigorous discussions both within the Congress hall, and around the city.

The CC - SED Report and the Party objectives was delivered by comrade Dr. Dietmar Bartsch, whom stood in as comrade General Secretary Klaus Ernst personally gave a tour of schools, factories, farms, and various other enterprises in and around the Capital of the GDR, to the delegates from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In this way, the Secretariat has hoped to be able to dissuade the government of the DPRK from retaining its ultra-hardline Jucheist stance, and instead begin taking action to initiate neccessary economic, military, and political reforms which are believed to considerably benefit the people of the DPRK, and ease tensions in the region.

Comrade Marschall der DDR Franz Heinrich Richter, Minister of National Defense of the GDR, also gave an Address before the delegates of the Congress. In it, he briefed the delegates on the status of the Volksarmee Special Military Operations in Donbas, and communicated the need for further investment in the military. Comrade Marschall Richter also declared that the Volksmarine was effectively being converted into a true, bluewater navy; with heavy investment coming in the form of purchases of new equipment, new warships, and modern technology from fraternal nations such as Russia, Belarus, Vietnam, and Waiku. He emphasized the need to fight against Fascism wherever it raises its head, which he described as being an intolerable menace to all of Humanity. Stating things bluntly, Marschall der DDR Richter said "As we speak, comrades, the Nationale Volksarmee is liberating the people of the Donbas from the evils of fascist tyranny. Together with our allies, Russia and Belarus, we are fighting to restore the people's rights. As Germans, it is our sacred duty to destroy all fascist regimes, their Braunhemden-bataillonen, their influence, and their ability to bear arms against their neighbors. It is a responsibility which we must not cast away lightly, and I can assure you, that the Nationale Volksarmee is doing no such thing".

Comrade General Secretary Ernst was unanimously reelected as general secretary by the Party delegates, and the 20th Central Committee has been nominated. Membership of the 20th Central Committee will be voted upon on the 27th of June.

Can you please clarify?

The 2112 United States presidential election was the 29th quadrennial presidential election. Liberty nominee Megatron defeated Union nominee Rocky Bauman in a landslide. The election marked the end of Union dominance in United States politics that began in 2076 as well as the end of 12 years of Union rule of the presidency.

Incumbent President Adam A Anthem did not seek re-election, keeping his 2108 campaign promise. Unionists instead nominated General Rocky Bauman, an undead war hero from the First Civil War, on the ninth ballot of their convention. The Liberty Party chose former Vice President Megatron as their nominee on their second ballot. The campaign mainly focused on rising inflation, growing protests over workers' rights, and the expansion of the Articles of Union, which had been forgotten since the outbreak of the First Civil War. Bauman's lack of political experience and knowledge of current issues proved decisive and gave way to a landslide Liberty victory.

I'm running with it. This is real lore now. Megatron beats a ghost in a landslide. Stay tuned for updates when I figure out how the hell to work NS code.

Socialist Unity Party of Germany Holds Extraordinary Congress in Berlin; the 20th Congress of the Party since its Founding in 1949

Party general secretary Klaus Ernst presides over his first Congress since being elected in early 2022.

EAST BERLIN - This weekend, delegates of the the ruling Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) have gathered at the Palace of the Republic in East Berlin, to determine the future of their party, and their country. As they do so, delegates from such countries as Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba, Turkey, Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Russia, Belarus, Transnistria, China, Great Britain, India, Iran, Pakistan, Nepal, Mongolia, Laos, Vietnam, Waiku, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have also gathered to attend the Congress as honored guests. President Vladimir Putin, most notably, was scheduled to attend and deliver an Address to the Congress, but was forced to cancel his attendance. His speech was instead delivered by the Russian ambassador to the German Democratic Republic, Sergei Nechaev.

The Congress was opened by General Secretary Klaus Ernst on Saturday the 25th of June, whom began by stating his intention to recommit the Party to the principles of Marxist-Leninist theory, while also considering the modern socioeconomic conditions that the GDR finds itself in. Comrade Ernst declared that the Socialist Unity Party must view itself as the inheritor of the responsibility to advance Socialism in Europe, and that the driving force of this proccess must be the complete cooperation and coordination of all organs within the Party.

Furthermore, Ernst unveiled his plan to give workers more control, by giving them the opportunity and ability to elect worker's councils for each enterprise in the GDR, on an annual basis. These councils would have to work alongside each enterprise's managerial board, and would be able to determine wages, regular working hours, and criteria for bonuses. However, at the same time, all such determinations will need to be approved by the state, and the so-called 'wage tariff system' would continue to stay in place as a counterbalance.

Next came comrade Gennady Zyuganov, the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, whom has served in that capacity since 1993. G.A. Zyuganov gave an Address, in which he roundly praised the German Democratic Republic for having the courage and strength to resist the abandonment of socialism, and for have clarity of mind to reinterpret, and reimagine Leninism for the 21st century. The General Secretary criticized the Russian government for the mass privatization of the 1990s, and for Russia's declining agricultural production in more recent times. He also voiced outrage at the lack of state support for rural regions.

"My dear comrades of the German Democratic Republic", Zyuganov said in part, "Our parties have always served the people and the state. My personal point of view is that without a strong central state, the country of the working people cannot exist. You have managed, against great odds I must tell you, to ensure that the working class in your country has a strong Party to guide them, a vast country to nurture them, and a great idea to inspire them. Comrades, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation draws great inspiration from your successes. Indeed, if the USSR had modified its politics and adopted the East German model, our great country would not have disappeared. You were able to change as the times changed without shedding your Leninist principles, and for that, the Socialist Unity Party of Germany deserves great praise".

Other speakers included the likes of Aliaksiej Sokal, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus; Roman Golovchenko, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus; José Ventura, the Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba; Wu Hongbo, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the German Democratic Republic and; Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the U.K. Labour Party.

The second day of the Congress continues on Sunday, June the 26th.
