I understand where you are coming from, I really do. But that is foolish thinking. There are plenty who have no intent of changing who they are because "others" wish for them to. There are those who have committed too henious of an act to be able to live a life of luxury behind bars. There are also those too important to let live because of the damage that might be caused if they were to escape. No Government would want to accept responsibility for letting mass murderers escape jail and go on a spree because they got out. No Government wants to hear of the bloodshed that they are covering for by those who feel justice needs to be served. Not every nation on NS is goody-two-shoes and can afford to keep such men in prison. There are those in civil wars, who need to ensure that the enemy command is killed no matter the cost, and they cannot possibly, ever, be burdened by some morally correct organization that would rather run the risk of terrorists escaping prison, forcing thousands more to die by revived conflicts, then to simply let those who committed evil be killed. And you? You would gladly let that happen since it's morally correct to rehabilitate? That is the most foolish of thinking. There are those who must be killed, even if they decided to surrender. Otherwise? Only a statistic on a sheet could represent the many more lives at risk, or already dead, simply because man wasn't allowed to be executed for "the greater good".
