Homa 120 Crash Investigations Begins

Nurahbad – The investigation committee, assembled under the orders of President Shirin Karvani, has begun their investigation over the disastrous events of Friday, when a HB 120 helicopter carrying 230 passengers and crew crashed near Bellerose. Despite the best efforts of the recovery teams of the SIAF and SIN, and the tireless effort of the doctors and staff at the Nurahbad national Hospital and University Clinical Hospital, the death toll now stands at 171, including 92 women and 5 children. Both pilots are included within the death toll, while the navigator survived the crash, and is currently receiving treatment at the SIN Hospital at Nurahbad. A further 59 injured, some of whom are suffering from third degree burns, are still receiving treatment, and the Ministry of Health has confirmed that none are in critical condition.

President Karvani, following the announcement of an investigation committee, has also taken the decision regarding a week of mourning, to be carried on in commemoration of the accident.

In the political sphere, the blame game continues, with both the National Peoples' Rally (NPR), and the White Party (WP), holding somewhat different stances on the issue, while uniting in the common clause of demanding that the Minister of Transport, Naser Mahdavi Bey, resign his position prior to any Motion of No Confidence being brought up in parliament, as they suggest. HE Mahdavi Bey is blamed for not inspecting SAT's adherence to rules and regulations, particularly regarding passenger loads.

Where opposition goals differ is in the allegations against private entities Homa Vertol and private aviation companies. The White Party has not spoken out against them (Allegedly due to their own relations with the leadership of the companies), while the NPR has spoken in favour of the nationalization of all such entities, including Homa Vertol.

This isn't the first time Homa Vertol has come under the crosshairs of nationalisation. The last time was in 1995, when the company successfully resisted nationalisation, proposed by the then ruling National Party under pressure from the NPR. The result was a quarrel that led to a serious disruption to relations between the company and the government, with the government deciding that Homa Vertol should have less control over strategically important aircraft development. The Homa AB-2 attack helicopter design, proposed by Homa as the future attack helicopter of the SIA, was rejected in favour of the Simurgh Attack helicopter by the National Military Aviation state company that same year.

Honorine Colbert, the current chairperson of the Homa Vertol Aviation Group, appeared in front of the media yesterday, Saturday, to answer questions regarding the crash and the position of Homa Vertol. She responded that she was aware that some foreign customers of the company, such as The Kingdom of Maxima Thule, have decided to ground their Homa aircraft until investigations are carried out by Sitakhtari and local teams regarding their airworthiness.

"[Homa Vertol] are aware that many of our customers have lost their trust on us over the recent tragedy. We must affirm that we're not offended by their decision, and that we understand the reasoning behind it. As we care the most of ensuring the safety and security of our customers, and those they care for, we understand the importance of trust, and how difficult it is to regain trust once it is damaged. So we choose to understand their decision, and stand by it, with the assurance that we will provide impartial engineering teams to go through all aircraft if necessary, to regain the position we held in their trust. Similarly, we support any measure taken by our own government to halt all business, and all operations, to ensure that everything's well with our aircraft before anyone has to fly in them again. It is our duty to hold ourselves accountable, if not responsible, for any incident such as this."

"Homa doesn't have to worry about speaking out"; according to the opinion of White Party Opposition member Rasoul Shookohi Bey. "President Karvani herself is a shareholder. There will be no investigations against them."

President Karvani has denied any allegations of partiality, and blamed the opposition parties on politicizing the tragedy.

Nevertheless public opinion is that the president herself perhaps may have to apologise for the disaster. A protest was held near the SAT western headquarters in Nurahbad this morning, organised by civilians including relatives of the passengers of the fateful flight. The protesters currently demand that SAT bear the responsibility of the disaster, and have announced that they would not move from their positions until any proper decision is announced. The announcement of the resignation of Ramin Fardin, overseer of State Air Transit, has not moved them. And despite the announcement that Fardin is now forbidden from leaving the country for the duration of investigations, and has to remain under house arrest, the protests in Nurahbad continue.

_{Merlin Joint Venture shows of 2026 roster}

Rayner Fields - Yaquina Region - Merlin Military Aircraft, a joint venture between Ariannica and Anglandium, brought the full export catalogue to this year's Evergreen Air Show, with the entire production roster appearing together in the flying and static display programme.

The event ran over three days at Rayner Fields airfield, about 60km south east of Yaquina with a dedicated trade day preceding two public days. All eleven aircraft in the Merlin line-up appeared, spanning five the airframe families on offer.

The Flying Display
Visitors saw the T-7 Red Hawk, the twin-seat jet trainer that serves as the entry point for fast-jet crews, opening each afternoon display with a solo aerobatic routine before transitioning into a formation segment with frontline types.

The F-18 series took centre stage in the middle of the programme. Both the F-18E/F Griffen, described by the manufacturer as an affordable multirole fighter, and the F-18G Wyvern, the carrier-capable variant, flew demonstration profiles. The Griffen's appearance reflects the type's continued popularity with export customers despite the manufacturer's stated intention to eventually retire the family once order books empty.

The F-35 family closes the fast-jet portion of the display with all three variants airborne in sequence: the F-35A Raptor stealth omnirole fighter, the short-takeoff-and-vertical-landing F-35B Harrier, and the upgraded F-35C Phoenix. The B-model's STOVL demonstration was expected to be the show's signature moment, with a vertical landing planned on the main apron. Vertical take off, possible through Anglandinium engines and engineering.

Support, Surveillance and Transport - aircraft
The four aircraft derived from the 636 civil passenger jet will appeared in both flying and static roles. The C-636-P Pegasus aerial refueller conducted a tanker track demonstration alongside receiving aircraft, while the E-636-W Wedgetail AEW&C platform and E-636-P Palantir AWACS aircraft will be presented on static display with their sensor arrays accessible to trade visitors. The P-636-S Poseidon maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare variant rounds out the 636 family.

The largest aircraft on site was the C-646-G Globemaster, the strategic transport version of the Super Jumbo 646, which arrived with a cargo load demonstration and remain parked for boarding tours throughout the public days.

Merlin - Manufacturing Context
Merlin is a joint venture, with engines and numerous component sets produced in Anglandium, with final assembly distributed across multiple sites in Ariannica. Components move via specialised 646 super-jumbo transports or by sea through the Vesperan Straits, a logistics chain the company intends to highlight in a trade-day briefing on industrial capacity.

Company representatives confirmed that all exports require approval from both governments involved.

Shadow of Helicopter crash
The event took under the shadow of the recent helicopter accident in Sitakhtar. Although Merlin does not manufacture helicopters, the accident puts air safety into sharp focus and with so many industry members there, it was an inevitable topic of conversation. CEO of Merlin, Seth Thatcher said that air tragedies effected the whole industry, expressed his sadness at the loss of life and that no comment could be made until the investigation was concluded.

Eirenian Student protests bring the country to a standstill.

The Eirenian student protests, which began in the later days of the month of peace (September), have begun to grow rapidly in size and violence as the Eirenian government continues to leave demands from the organizations that began the protest unanswered. The student protests which first started in the Eirenian capital city of Attica have also begun to spread outside of the city limits with smaller protests breaking out in other major cities in Pethia Eirenes such as the commercial city of Tarsus, the international peace city of Neapolis, and most recently the port city of Tanais, which borders The Kingdom of Sitakhtar.

The Student Protests first began after a teacher strike led to a severe teacher shortage. The teacher strike began due to growing desire for the salaries for teachers to go up and for more teachers to be hired to lighten the number of students that each teacher was being forced to teach. This eventually led to student led protests beginning in Attica over the lack of teachers before eventually growing to protest against the lack of teachers, long school days, and budget cuts to the Eirenian department of education, and the lack of funding that was being allocated to local schools. The teacher strikes and student protests would eventually unite as the department of education continued to leave demands unanswered with a deadline of the 5th of the month of sorrow being set for the department of education to respond to the protests.

The student protests would originally start out peaceful during the month of peace as it was seen as disrespectful in Eirenian culture to commit an act of violence during the month. However once the month of peace ended and the deadline passed with no response, the protests began to grow greater in size and riots would begin, forcing the Eirenian Guard, the national military of Pethia Eirenes, to be sent in to quell the rioting as much as possible once it was determined that the Attican police were unable to quell the growing riots.

These protests would eventually spread outside of Attica with protests beginning in other major Eirenian cities, these protests however would be against more than just education with protests in the northern cities of the republic like Neapolis and Tanais being about the treatment of Religious, ethnic, and other minority groups in countries across the globe while the southern portion of the republic would protest against the increased price of material goods. These protests would also be against the more conservative, isolationist government of Pethia Eirenes that has had control of the nation since the early 3200s.

The Eirenian Government has shown no sign of conceding to the demands of the protesters and the groups that are organizing the protests have shown no sign in stopping the protests, as it stands, The Most Serene Republic of Pethia Eirenes will likely remain at a standstill as neither side concedes. The riots and government response have so far led to their being an estimated casualty count of 2,000 people being injured so far and 3 million dollars worth of material goods being lost as a consequence to the riots. The mayor of the city did not give an exact reason for this postponement however local government officials stated that it was a multi-partisan decision and had nothing todo with the protests and riots that are currently taking place.
