The Empire of Repland is a very large, efficient nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, frequent executions, and complete lack of prisons. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 482 million Replandians are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.
The tiny, moralistic, pro-business, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Industry. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 5.9%.
The powerhouse Replandian economy, worth 44.2 trillion Euros a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Uranium Mining industry, with major contributions from Gambling, Information Technology, and Arms Manufacturing. Average income is 91,788 Euros, but there is an enormous disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 506,295 per year while the poor average 8,415, a ratio of 60.2 to 1.
An eye for an eye leaves Repland blind, middle management darts to the playground after board meetings, the Replandian Tourism Bureau has described the abolition of coastal defences as a "kick to the groyne", and smoking is banned in public areas. Crime is a problem, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Repland's national animal is the Lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.
Repland is ranked 205,603rd in the world and 718th in Europeia for Most Influential, scoring 128 on the Soft Power Disbursement Rating.
