The Snowy Lands of Afeiste is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Afeisti Federal Council with a fair hand, and renowned for its compulsory military service, ban on automobiles, and devotion to social welfare. The compassionate, democratic, devout population of 1.476 billion Afeisti love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Welfare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kaśo. The average income tax rate is 68.5%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Afeisti economy, worth 36.0 trillion Detaoyes a year, is led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Cheese Exports, and Information Technology. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 24,362 Detaoyes, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

'Totally Not Partisan News' is a line item on the government budget, airplane passengers who purchase "basic economy" tickets are often assigned seats in the lavatory, you can't put down the nation's attitude to pet health, and government spokespeople are working overtime trying to convince concerned citizens that Afeisti Federal Council is not a crook. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Afeiste's national animal is the Carcajou, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Amadism.

Afeiste is ranked 162,871^st in the world and 148^th in Democratic Socialist Assembly for Most Extensive Public Healthcare, scoring 1,082.03 on the Theresa-Nightingale Rating.
