I imagine how badly this will effect the younger kids. Those in preschool and kindergarten. We can still function without physical interaction with our peers. They can't, though.

At the worst it's a very good placebo lol.

I don't know why I remembered this.
"I say this continual smoking must have been one cause, at least, of his peculiar disposition; for every one knows that this earthly air, whether ashore or afloat, is terribly infected with the nameless miseries of the numberless mortals who have died exhaling it; and as in time of the cholera, some people go about with a camphorated handkerchief to their mouths; so, likewise, against all mortal tribulations, Stubb’s tobacco smoke might have operated as a sort of disinfecting agent."

That is true. God does some of his best work behind the scenes, when we have anxieties and doubts - unable to notice his mercy at the time until something worse comes along.

Yep.

Aisha narrates Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There is nothing (in the form of trouble) that comes to a believer even if it is the pricking of a thorn that there is decreed for him by Allah good or his sins are obliterated. [Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi]

Funny, I'm also in a history of disease class and we just finished cholera and the plague, heading into TB.

I find it so remarkable how similar Islam's teachings are to Protestantism. I see why the Ottomans preferred Germany over the other European Powers.

Which is why I don't believe, unlike some Muslims and non-Muslims, that Islam needs something on the scale of the "Protestant Reformation" Christianity underwent.

You could say it has, Salafism :P
Otherwise, that would just be Quranism.

I would say that Salafism is more akin to the Great Awakening. It's not so much "the system isn't working" as it is "the people aren't doing the right thing". Same of the Deobandi movement.

Hadith is a little bit more difficult since Christianity doesn't exactly have a similar source of law. Quranism isn't part of the Orthodoxy and I doubt it ever will be.

I use to be Presbyterian, Free Will Baptist, and Methodist before I reverted. Islam stuck a cord with me in that it emphasized submission before God just as Protestantism emphasizes the importance of the five Solas. I strattled the lie between Protestantism, Deism, and Islam weaving a tappistery of beliefs each complementing and reinforcing the other as pillars.

(It has been alleged by some historians, that the national church of Bosnia was a prototype or precussor of Protestantism due to its refusal to submit to either the Bishop of Rome or The Patriarch in Constantinople.)

I think it'd be hilarious for him to resign only to be elected again.

I dislike the notion of sects in Islam, and disagree on certain points with all the schools of thought. But I think if it doesn't work it's not really a problem with the system lol.

If I were to rebel and be called a heretic, I think my hottest takes would be

1. Ritual purification with corporeal materials are unnecessary.
2. The Prophets were not infallible
3. Public, free resources for Islamic Scholarship
4. Hadiths are not necessary
5. One can consume intoxicants, but avoid intoxication
6. Religious icons permitted.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
brothers of UEI.

Today is the happy day for us at Islamic Empire as our demands were met by our past founder. But it is also a sad moment for us, as we reflect upon the accusations which were hurled against Western Arab Empire by the whole region, during the heat of the moment.

I am here today to express our gratitude and heartfelt apologies to Western Arab Empire and the entire UEI for all the bitterness of the past few weeks. Thanks to all our brethren in the UEI for supporting us all throughout.
Western Arab Empire has been a pillar of support all throughout the process and it is he who had been the man behind the successful refounding.
As a mark of respect, we the denizens of Islamic Empire, confer upon Western Arab Empire the title of Sultan and Supreme Protector of IE.
For this, I would request the most benevolent leadership of UEI to allow WAE to spare a puppet nation in IE.
Lastly, once again, I would like to tender an unconditional apology to Western Arab Empire for the events of the past few days and also offer our heartfelt thanks and gratefulness to him for his unstinted support throughout the events.
