TSPeoples!!! TSPInterview 3 is out now!! With the one and only Drystar

TSPeople!!! Today's interview is with the one and only Drystar!!!!

How did you find TSP/NS?
Well, my nation was created here in TSP, but I found NS when I was reading someone’s post long ago on the old Allakhazam game site. They had a link to their National in their signature, so I took a look.

What is your nation name in TSP? Why did you choose its name?

Drystar of course, and the naming is a long involved story. I really wanted to use a different name, but thankfully it was taken. So I fiddled around and put something together. It’s actually a shared name with one of my mules in another online game.

What is the significance of your TSP flag?

I was celebrating talk like a pirate day, and since at that time I had been using my original flag for at least 12 years, I decided to go with the Jolly Roger. And considering my current position over the rmb, it serves as a reminder to people.

How long have you been a part of TSP?

Sometimes it seems like forever honestly, but I’ve been a resident of TSP since my nation’s founding. I’ve conversed with nations from other regions, but I’ve never really had the inclination to move

What about TSP makes you want to stay here?

Mostly the people. I’ve had a lot of fun over the years interacting with everyone, including our most infamous members. Takes a bit to get used to the new people constantly popping in and not having a clue on how things work, but the regulars tend to sort them out fast enough

Tell us about your nation/ How do YOU Play NationStates

Well, Drystar the nation is loosely based on the Discworld city of Ankh-Morpork when it comes to government structure. To account for the large population base, it’s moved most of the “nation” into the asteroid belt past Mars. It’s not more advanced than any current real nation mostly, just more focused. The original island the nation started on is still considered the home country, and people make voyages to visit once or twice in their lifetimes. I tend to answer issues only if they seem to make life better for the people of my nation.

What is your favorite thing about TSP?

Depends really. I do appreciate a good story, and we have some people over the years who were and are really good at that. I also like people feel they can come and share a vent when they need to.

What is your favorite memory of TSP?

I’d have to say the geriatric league and the times Auphelia, Vola, and I ran for office. Pretty much anytime Auphelia and I got involved in politics spelled trouble for someone

What is your favorite TSP activity?

Used to be Z day, the chaos was entertaining. I’m still waiting for something to come along and grab my interest now.

What activity would you like to see TSP have?

That’s a tough one. I’ve not really thought about it to be honest. I’d like to see an annual pirate day, just because. I’m sure it would totally confuse visitors and newcomers

What do you think TSP can do differently?

Lighten up. We used to be more laid back, even with our internal feuding. I’ve noticed over the years this constant consolidation of structure, so that we stopped experimenting with things. Now sadly we just pat ourselves on the back while proclaiming we’re the oldest democracy here on NS.

What are you involved in in TSP? What have you been a part of in the past?

Besides general agitator? I’m currently the senior rmb moderator, which means I get to deal with all the troublemakers. I’ve been a member of the LC on various occasions. Prior to that, I’ve been a regular member of the rmb for years.

What would you like to do in TSP?

I’m actually fine with what I do now. I get to keep the conversation flow going on the rmb, and I don’t have to tolerate fools. I would like to bring back the LC in some form, the elections were amusing.

What would you like to see more of in TSP?

I’d like to see more outreach from our government to our residents. The “they’ll find us” mentality won’t keep an active presence with the current game. The powers that be need to aggressively recruit new players into the community, rather then rely on the passive dispatch.

Some interests outside of NATIONSTATES

Travel and photography. Both of which go nicely together. Also enjoy cooking when I have time.

I have a new favorite song.
I don't want to say it because I don't want people to judge me.
My music taste is very wide, it ranges from emo to hyperpop to indie, so...
With that out of the way, Writing on the Wall by Will Stetson. I want to try singing it :)

Greetings, fellow world leaders!

An average family wakes up at 4:30 in Uxabra, an average day in 1976, excited to turn on the Ikalo match.
They start the tv and watch the match for about 2 minutes, before being greeted by a siren with a red screen, with the words "ALERT FOR THE CITIZENS OF UXABRA" written in Gerza, Xartoian and English.
After the siren stops, a man's voice starts speaking in Gezra, he says (translated) :
"Alert, Alert. The Kermitian state has received information of an Anti-Government organization in Uxabra, to respond to this, a bombing campaign and raid will take place to neutralize the organization. To all civillians, hide in shelters or basements. The raid will begin after the following noise." The family immediately hides in their basement, the siren plays a soft noise, but after that, loud bombing and shelling began, doors breaking, everything, the children are traumatized, the adults are scared. The raid lasts for a few hours, after that, the city lies in rubble. Everything is gone, nothing is left, people are dead left in the rubble, all aid is gone, the survivors are bound to die.
This is the reality of the Uxabra raids.
