The Hebmani people became prevalent when, in 1853, they would attempt to create their own unrecognised state in Austrian Transylvania called The First Hebmanian State, with a total population of around 500. They would be led by David I Goldsmith (1811-1867) and then his son, David II Goldsmith (1827-1892) until they were driven out of Transylvania by the Habsburg in 1878.
They would then try again in 1907, this time in Northern Greece. They were led by Solomon I Bertoli (1880-1912). But in 1912, during the Balkan wars, they were yet again driven out...
