The House of Representatives Regional Message Board

I vote for Communaccord

Representatives, all members have voted so the voting period is now closed. The results are, by order of candidate declaration:

Communaccord is elected Speaker. If the Speaker wishes to add a puppet nation to this region, he may message me for the regional password.

I choose Marvinfield as deputy speaker.

The bill up for discussion is the congressional expansion act, an amendment to LR 004 written by New Cayenne and Alesina. The discussion period will last 24 hours, I shall extend it to 48 hours if there is significant debate in the House.

Congressional Expansion Act (2026)
Author: New Cayenne
Contributor: Alesina

PREAMBLE
Noting that the size of Congress has not changed since the foundation of Aesica,
Recognising that 70 more votes were cast in the last election compared to the first,
Believing that it is time for Congress to expand to properly represent the growing Aesican population,

Congress hereby agrees,

  • Section I - The passage of this bill constitutes the amendment of L.R. 004 Congress Procedures Act, Article I, Section I, to read as follows. The changes included within shall take effect at the next House of Representatives election, whether that be scheduled or via early dissolution:

    • Section I - Congress shall consist of two chambers: a lower House of Representatives consisting of 7 9 Representatives, and a upper Senate consisting of 5 Senators.

  • Section II - Three days following the ratification of this bill, a regional referenda shall be held lasting 48 hours. The question shall be 'Should the House of Representatives expand from 7 to 9 seats?', and the options shall be 'Yes' and 'No'. The contents of Section I shall only apply if the referenda is approved by a simple majority of voters in the referenda.

  • Section III - This legislation shall not be considered a legislative resolution in its own right for the purposes of record keeping.

Who and what was the idea behind holding a referendum for something with so much support already behind it? What a waste of time.

Against.

I'd like to bring this to the house, too. Consider it an amendment or counter-proposal if you will, because it's already been drafted and has the co-sponsorship of Berg & Neoxona.

Co-sponsors: Bergiervile, Neoxona.

Section I of L.R. 004 will be amended to read the following:

Congress shall consist of two chambers: a lower House of Representatives consisting of 79 Representatives, and an upper Senatehouse of 5 Senators, titled the House of Representatives and the Senate respectively.
  • Sub-section I - All members of Congress shall gain the right to style themselves as the 'Honourable'. Members of Congress who serve as Caucus Leaders, Chamber Leader, or Shadow Chamber Leader, shall gain the right to style themselves as the 'Right Honourable'.

  • Sub-section II - The Lower House will not be expanded until the session of the house it was passed in expires - this clause will automatically be removed upon the expiration of that house session.

I also forward a motion of unanimous consent for the above bill, which I acknowledge.

So since this is being proposed as an amendment to the bill brought to the floor, I believe after reviewing the unanimous consent clause in LR 004, if this motion passes we would be brought to the voting stage then.

I object

Disappointing, and for no reason whatsoever.

Still consider my bill to be up for actual voting.
