RP ~ Markswomanship Results - 2013 Eclipse Games Event

Alas, a nice change of pace from the dance competition, an event where many participants actually did well. Of course, a few did very poorly, and some did worse than others, but on the whole a very nice collection of shooters were present.

Sadly, the competitor from Candain perished in a tragic, but entirely self inflicted and slightly comedic, accident. Captain Pyri Logi was the 5th shooter to step up. Armed with a reaper rifle, and being a Captain in the Sitruuna Self-Defence Force, the hopes for her were high, especially given how well the previous shooters had also done.

But when they fired, these hopes for the tiny lady were all dashed. Apparently having a deadly point curving back towards oneself was a bad idea. Regardless, for one reason or another, Pyri was completely unable to control the recoil of her rifle, with the weapon flying back, and out of her hands, as soon as the sprite fired it. In an instant, she was impaled through the chest (do sprites have a chest), and was deadly within a few minutes, her wound’s being far too severe, and her body too foreign, for the Aquitinian medics to do anything that could save the sprite.

Thankfully, the normal sprites are fairly small, so a few shovels of dust were able to first carry away the gore stained dirt, and then replace it with cleaner dust. After that, the event was able to continue. The next competitor, Lissa-Mae of Sodor, also did horribly, but thankfully they only completely missed the target, but otherwise weren’t hurt at all.

In the end, many shooters shot very well, and the scores were close, with Elena Drakam being obviously the most accurate, and thus winning gold. But the next three most accurate shooters were so close that the targets had to be carefully inspected in order to determine which of them was the most accurate, and which the least. Due to that, the least accurate would receive a compensation medal, since one would be bumped from the podium. After careful examination, Berthilde Gerveng was found to be the most accurate of the three, so earned second place, while René Brazier was close behind, earning themselves 3rd place. Hayya, sadly, was ever so slightly less accurate than the other two, and was forced to settle for a consolation medal and laying on the ground next to the podium.

    RP - Important Matters
Neuerstaat would not be isolated from witnessing the horrifying events taking place in Solingarch and it's southern duchies, though initially disinterested in the internal happenings of a distant nation, rapidly escalating instances of state violence committed against the general populace would gradually receive more attention from media in the nation, as well as garnering the attention of officials, politicians and political parties.
The Solingarchi response to discontent in the south as well as the nation's population as a whole was undoubtedly exceedingly violent as well as a blatant violation of sapient rights, many officials, especially from the left (parties like VdA, SDP and NMV) would call for a condemnation of the Kingdom for such inhumane (insapient??) actions against the masses, with such violent actions essentially televised to the world, opposition to a condemnation in the nation would be light at best, with many from the KLN (Largest Right wing party) standing against the brutal actions done by the Solingarchi police and military, paving way for the Volksparlament to pass a near unanimous vote in favor of the condemnation of Solingarch, as well as alike to Amberleaf, declaring full support for the rebelling forces of Prolekult.
May liberation soon come for all in Prolekult.

Unsuprisingly, the VdA (Versammlung der Arbeiter, Democratic Socialist party) would declare further support for Prolekult, organizing mass demonstrations across Neuerstaat in solidarity with their cause, waving about blue, green, gold or black banners in support of their cause. By far, most support would be seen in the city of Tirest, with mass demonstrations seeing over 250,000 people march in support along the city's Akademie Avenue, being one of the largest demonstrations in the history of Neuerstaat itself, many VdA members even declaring they wish to support Prolekult further.
In alignment with this belief of the VdA, another prominent official within the VdA, Anders Veilace, would say in a recent speech given in Ingens, asking for the revolutionaries within Prolekult to directly contact the VdA, "To allow us to support your cause further."

For over 49 years, the title of 'Tallest building in Neuerstaat' laid with the Ialnast Building in Wächterstadt, towering over the city at a height of 401 meters tall. Though, recently, this title would change hands to a new building, under construction for over 7 years, with the title being snatched away on the 1st of February by the unveiling of the new Weltraumaufzug Tower, exceeding the Ialnast Building by over 100 meters, instead standing at a stunning height of 512 meters.
Standing as the tallest building in Neuerstaat as a whole, this new skyscraper would be designed by infamous architect, Valsoun Nesta, adding another famous building to his extensive track record. With the building's main contractor being Akso Construction and it's developers being Weyerhaeuser and Kreisen Immobilien.
The structure is located in the Stadtzentrum Area in downtown Wächterstadt, on Talstraße 43, with many tenants such as Esau und seine Brüder, Kreisen Finanziell and Alto Aridge Group are expected to take up space in the new building.

(OOC: This is in relations to the 1st article.)
Realizing the political potential of this tragedy in Solingarch, the AES (Agentur für Externe Sicherheit, the national intelligence agency) would be ordered to establish communications with the rebellion underway in Prolekult.
Though Neuerstaat lacks the necessary resources to simply contact them directly (such as directly landing aircraft), AES agents would begin to attempt to establish communications with any form of formal authority in the southern areas through online communication, though exercising precaution in their attempts to avoid diplomatic incidents.

RP | Refugee Settlements

The conflict with Gartentor naturally caused a real political drama in Amberleaf. The Amber Ministry was in a real dilemma. A war against Gartentor would have major consequences. It would upset a sizable chunk of pacifisticly-minded Amberlevians, who were especially concentrated in the capital of Canton Silvercinder. The Ministry could only imagine the strikes and protests and riots an aggressive advance would cause. A killing of the natives of Gartentor would also carry likely a flood of international unwanted reactions, and could significantly reduce Amberleaf's global standing. There was a large incentive for a diplomatic solution, but a seeming impossibility to actually get Gartentor and Amberleaf to agree to one. Gartentor didn't seem willing to bend much, and Gartentor's demands were not at all in the range of acceptability for Amberleaf.

In an attempt to at least do something, the Amber Parliament actually managed to begrudgingly agree on a minor course of action. Not something that would solve any great problem, but maybe take away a tiny bit of the severity. The Amber Ministry announced it would accept anyone from Gartentor wanting to flee or defect. They would be provided a temporary settlements further away from the conflict. The hope was this would extract people from Gartentor's influence more into the system of Amberlevian control. It would give those not interested in a war with Amberleaf a way out, and this could perhaps be used as justification, should a war break out, that all those who remain are those only interested in war, and therefore Amberlevian violence against them was more acceptable.

The Gartentor "refugee" settlements would be located in northeastern Canton Honeywood. The Canton was one of the few pacifistic ones. There had been made arrangements with the Honeywood government to provide settlements for the project. While it was assured that a location was picked that wouldn't upset the local population too much, there were still inevitably a minority of voices that did not at all like having to move away to make room for Amberleaf's historical enemies, but those were drowned out by the larger majority who had voted to being ready to provide this small sacrifice for the good of the Colony.

But this new action by the Ministry and the Parliament fired up the voices of those which had already been very angry at the handling of the whole affair. The lenient approach to Amberleaf's historical ally had upset many. Especially in Canton Deepest, where Gartentor had just invaded, killed, and occupied regions of rural areas, people felt betrayed by the Ministry and Military for lack of action.

RP | Myths and Fashion

A certain type of group had slowly been emerging from the furious voices. The Mythics, as they had been titled by the public. They held a fervent image of the Amberlevian nation. Obsessed with Amberleaf's mythologized past as a nation that overcame an entire island of oppressors, fighting for a century over Fargarden. The Mythics believed in the idealized myth of Amberleaf. Their ideology was characterized by a strong nationalism, a belief in the decay of modern Amberleaf, and a desire to bring Amberleaf back into the mythical state of the past. A rejuvenation of the old culture. The culture of the Mythics had emerged since the Gartentor emergence, and been organizing in rallies more and more.

Mythics could very well be recognized by their intense display of Amberlevian nationalist iconography. They were wearing clothes and symbols typically used on national holidays, especially those who were about Amberlevian unification, military victories, or other glorifications of Amberlevian culture. Also very popular were military and official uniforms, especially historic ones. The Mythics seemingly had an obsession with a certain style. An important and iconic aspect of them was their fashion.

Myths and fashion. That was their thing, which is why they had been called Mythics and Fashists.

RP | Highland

Everess. She was an author. In retrospect, her works did contain much of the sentiment recognizable in the Mythics. A call upon the old traditions, a call for rejuvenation, a call to make Amberleaf great again. All with a rather military-adoring flavor. She had been arrested a little more than a decade ago, for calling for the execution of Pacifists. She had spend her time being held in a rehabilitation facility, without internet access. But during those times she received frequent visitors. Everess now had been mostly released from rehabilitation, but was required to return on a regular basis and meet with her psychologist.

People who had been more familiar with her character and play in politics had occasionally mentioned her presence in the crowd of Mythics. Especially Pacifist influencers were calling on her to be forced back into rehabilitation, and called her a very dangerous influence. But in Amberleaf, expression of political believes was culturally a very well protected right. And Everess had learned to abstain from openly calling for execution of groups of Amberlevian citizens. She was free to participate in the Mythic rallies, and would prove to be a major influencer among them.

Not long after, there were rumors of a new political party being in the works of creation. One birthed by Everess and the Mythics. They went by the name of Highland, standing for a traditions and the military and strength and old Amberlevian fashion. A truly mythical and fashist Amberleaf.

RP: Marovoanise Civil War: Beginnings

Marovoanise Ministry of Internal Information, 3:00 AM

It was a slow job, but it did pay well at the least. After all, the Ministry needed year-round security, and if they had to hire more guards it'd be a lower pay. So, for the moment, Léonie Randriamampianina was content to do her job, sitting at the front desk with her taser and making sure nobody came in. It was a relatively peaceful job, and being on the outside of Toliara it wasn't like much would come. They were archives, just records, and while a night guard did exist that was a precaution, nothing more.

And it was a good life by Marovoanise standards. Leonie had her children and grandchildren, she'd come straight from visiting her first grandson after six granddaughters. Jean, 8 months old and happy. Wearing the clothes she'd brought for him, because she knew she had to be the best grandmother she could be. The thought that, for better or for worse, she had a family now and she had to keep that family, no matter what it took. It was why she'd taken bonus shifts, worked for years in the same position, and now neared a pension that was almost half minimum wage somewhere like Sodor.

Meanwhile, in an unknown location on the outskirts of the city, some 2 kilometres from the archives, Lettnant Falimery Rabetsitonta was getting into his Isti I, the Tank destroyer among the most modern of systems operated by the Marovoanise Self-Defence Forces. Even if it wasn't his time to drive this month, it wasn't like the government would complain that in the absence of the scheduled driver he was taking over. The absence being a permanent one was none of their concern, as it hadn't been since he'd disappeared. So Fali, as he was known to his friends, got into the vehicle, and his crew loaded up.

Headed out on a routine drive test, just to keep skills sharp. Maybe shoot a blank, after all it was why they'd loaded the vehicle up beforehand, why else would they want to do that?

It was a sedate drive down the M-1, the Tank Destroyer following a preassigned route, until it took a sharp turn to the right, heading towards a squat building, four stories, with a pretty foyer. The turret swung, even as the vehicle slowed, the snap of artillery loading echoing inside the vehicle. An echoing blast, and the shell discharged, Rabetsitonta and his crew, all members of the National Red Army newspaper, firing.

Leonie Randriamampianina barely had time to stand.

Foyer ablaze, the vehicle fired again, a well-aimed shot through the doorway and into the archives beyond. That was their mission, and they weren't going to leave it to chance. A third snap, and a blast ripped through the archives room, crippling the already weakened beams beyond repair, and then the vehicle was off.

President Razafimahaleo was woken at 4:32 AM with the news, reaction one of fury. The base commander had been executed at 4:48 AM, and by 5:06 AM a full investigation was taking place.

At 6:32 AM, news came on the airwaves. The Marovoanise Revolutionary Popular Front declared their actions in this, and announced a war of secession against the Marovoanise government. By 12:00 PM, seven other groups had filed their own secessions, by 12:00 AM this had ballooned to 22, clear proof of issues.

At that time, 12:00 PM, the President went on air, promising swift reprisals, and the MRPF promised that the people would soon be free of he tyranny of the Razafimahaleo government.

Mission Ridge Air Base, 2200 hours

The sky was dark, even as the SAM radar watched the skies. It had been 19 hours since the incident, and the Marovoanise were on edge. Mission Ridge was under control, and the radar spun, taking frequent checks of the sky and watching for enemy aircraft. After all, it had been a long day, and since the base was secured there was no reason to put it under threat again. Which was why, as CA-137 came over on the daily flight between Topago (Nonadia) and Hermanburg (Midribbonia), it was viewed as some kind of threat.

The 298 individuals on board, 283 passengers and 15 crew, weren't to know this. What they did know, at 22:23 PM, was the impact, as a single missile slammed into the fuselage. The aircraft went down at 22:37, with no survivors, even as every group denied responsibility. After all, it was a mistake, and the shootdown was an event none of them wanted.

RP: HOFFNUNGSLOSE ENTSCHLOSSENHEIT

Marovoay descends into the fringes of chaos, consumed and beset by  their violence and destruction. Guns blazed with their monstrous sounds from afar. Bombs shook the earth, becoming dearth of any meaningful civility. Blood spilled the pavements, and created manmade rivers that forever stained the history of the lands. With more blood rivers, more mountains of bodies naturally grew to feed the new corruptive nature that replaced the old and peaceful one. Sadness gloomed over the ambassadors stationed in the collapsing country, such is the fate of nations…

Alarms rang aloud and revealed its dreadful rose colors. Radios and telephones screamed and joined the fray with frantic white noise screeching in the background. Moments of tiny quakes gave brief moments of silence. But those moments were followed by violent shaking; the aftershocks reached their once formidable stature. The embassy was hit by a wave of rockets, likely from insurgents or bandits looking to massacre others for sport or gold. Gunfire from the Swiss guards countered their malicious and bloodthirsty ways, yet it was unknown whether they were rebels or gangs of thugs just looking to exploit the country’s imminent collapse towards anarchy. Fate at that time was unmerciful, and they could only know later in the future, when safety and peace gave them another warm embrace. Screams within the radiowave frequencies and the underwater cables immediately alerted the Federal Government of their endangered status. The time came to activate their military forces for their rescue operation inside the collapsing Marovoay state. Swiss special forces were dispatched along with several cargo planes inside a remote landstrip 4km out from the Swiss embassy. Chaos ensued over the strip for a brief moment, but the angel of peace swooped down in time to calm the masses. Special forces, one of which was a secret member of the TASK FORCE SECURITY NINE, gave frightful stares at their incoming foes who seemed to swing guns wildly like a bunch rabid animals. One-two-three aimed and their shots were true, sucking the very life out of them within a push of a trigger.

Diplomats rushed frantically awaiting their heavenly ride back home. Engines roared as dust entered and left their turboprops, hissing at the ready to take on full power and accomplish their mission till the very end. Radios from pilots to their guards down on the tarmac hollered for them to climb aboard, but one member was still missing. A shadowy figure appeared from the midst of newly brewed sandstorms kicked by the metal dragons. A small mist of blood sprang out ever so suddenly within split seconds.

*Pop*

*POP* *WHISTLES*

Bullets hailed danger close to the men on the ground, but one soldier dared the nearly impossible, grabbing the lone straggler behind him. Nothing but bravery stood beside him as he relentlessly covered the diplomat with his own body.

*BANG*

Loud explosions overtook the artificial hissing noises.

“NOW OR NEVER!” The pilots screamed. Mechanical whirrings signaled the closing of their bay doors. One of the five planes took to the skies, then another. The last bird waited, narrowly missing their time window. Staggered breaths took control of the two men’s frantic efforts to make it back to their mother hen. At last, the last bird too staggered and leaped to make their escape. Ungodly windshears pounded the metal body into submission, but the plane continued its mission. Their path to safety was now well within sight, flying over the continent back to the GCS. The consistent whirring suddenly powered down.

“Smoke. We got smoke—”

RP ~ Limited Calvinball Report - 2013 Eclipse Games Tournament

As always , the Calvinball matches, despite having a slight semblance of real rules, were as hectic and chaotic as they usually were. In fact, because the athletes themselves couldn’t pick the rules, it was arguably even more random and chaotic, while also being more fair. Of course, it being fair is why it is not as popular in Aquitinia.

Out of all the teams, two seemed to be most adept at playing with the frequent and frantic rule changes and upheavals, resulting in them both making it to the final match, beating out the teams from Sodor and Outer Union, which just didn’t have the gusto to win. Before those two teams played, third place was determined via a loser’s match, and Aleks claimed the Bronze medal for their nation.

In the end, while both the Midribbonian team, led by Vladir Milshir, and the Distanic Team, Adelheid Freudenbergerg had played well for all of the previous matches, one random rule sealed the fate of the Midribbonians. The rule declared that players couldn’t walk any more feet per minute than they had letters in their last names, and that they did have to walk, but could power walk. Armed with such power, Miss Freudenbergerg was able to walk laps around the helpless Midribonnian team for over 10 minutes, scoring numerous points, in the ways that gained the most bonus points as well. All in all, the final match was somewhat of a cruel reminder that no matter how much skill someone has, Calvinball can always best them.

With the final Calvinball match won, the Distanic team got 1st place and the golden medal, relegating the Midribbonians to second place and the silver medal. Despite this, both teams are tied in medals, currently being the leading competitors at the 2013 Aquitinian Games.

With potential conflict brewing in the Scythian and Kryvian regions, the local territorial armies would be made ready with border patrols receiving armored support and the Airforce doing semi-regular patrols of the airspace.

To the office of Rykensvik-Baltocarpathian Affairs: Due to our status within Phoenix Blossom we heavily suggest taking much care in the current conflict. Things are more complicated than they seem and a black and white answer cannot be attained at this time. Again. Try to avoid conflict with Amberleaf if at all possible

The acceptance from the Neusehvtisi'i would see a relatively calm response from the Sodorhvtisi'i, the two crew carrying rifles content to allow their compatriots to accept the landing while they watch. The setup on shore would be relatively primitive, pork cooking over an open fire and pomegranates open as the captain of the ship stepped forward, shoulder-length brown hair with a pair of ears poking through looking wet even as she offered a gloved hand.

"Mara Toivoavila, Captain of the Lahe. Ex-Captain. Now, Captain Elloree, what're you doing out here in this... thing?"

The Viipatsira, meanwhile, would make her moves, escort staying behind as she entered the bay and began to get into position to launch landing craft, with the goal of beginning to land armour support on the beach considering the if not hostile armed presence of foreigners on the beach. The helicopters would be kept back, in favour of the preparing Air Cushioned Landing Craft, even as surveillance systems were put on high alert.

RP: Sodorhvtisi’i
Elloree looked at her skeptically for moment, taken slightly aback by the car ears, before shaking her hand “I could very well ask the same of you.” replied Elloree. “Never in my life have I seen such a large vessel, let alone one of metal.” he paused for a moment “We sailed here after hearing a report of a grounded ship here in the Mattamuskeet Sound, the Governor was worried about a potential threat as well as to rescue any stranded crew — though it seems that you have your own rescue.” He looks back at the Lahe “What is it?” he asks “What were y’all up to here?”

RP: The Rodanthe Assembly
Rodanthe - Governor Tryon signed the Public Roads Act into law today, marking the first phase of the National Advancement Plan, a series of national projects designed to improve the nation as a whole. The plan is the brainchild of Assemblyman James J. Wight and Adam Adler; the two lawmakers worked together in the Rodanthe Assembly over a series of sessions to negotiate this first bill and rally support from the more conservative wing of the legislature, who were more open to the idea of national improvements. While political parties are expressly banned by the Constitution, the Rodanthe Assembly is nonetheless divided down several lines, forming caucuses. The Conservative wing tends to be made up of legislators from Wachau and the more urban areas of Albemarle. They tend to be deeply religious and believe that the central government should have more authority, and that personal rights fall below the order of social cohesion and order. The Liberals on the other hand generally believe that the central government exists primarily for matters of security and argue that domestic issues be left to the provinces. They are strong supporters of individual liberties and freedoms, although many of their caucus members are slave-owners juxtaposing their personal and political beliefs.

RP | Brennus

Brennus wrote:

As the one thing the Gartentorian military was lacking most, it was sufficient modern weaponry. So with glee they accepted Brennus' delivery. There some skepticism towards the training personnel to be sent. Gartentor hadn't managed to stay under radar this long by being careless. There was always the possibility that Brennus was secretly working with Amberleaf. Nonetheless, the decision was made to show trusting and cooperative. The full island of Fargarden was still fully covered in fog, caused by Gartentor's druidic operation, which would continue to allow secret deliveries, until Amberleaf would catch on at least.

Supreme Priestess Manderina had given instructions on how to handle the Brennian arrivals. She made sure everything was right for the image they were trying to convey. No misbehavior was to be allowed. Gartentor needed any support it could get, and any sympathy to weaken Amberleaf. Manderina even threw in some scenes, where Gartentorian soldiers would "spontaneously" engage in personal talks with the Brennians, with a sob-story that had been scripted by the Supreme Priestess beforehand. The Gartentorian leadership had become experts with doing a lot with the limited opportunities they got.

From the general vibe the Brennians could get on the confederacy, was that of a rather class-devided society. There were clear indicators of who was authority, and who was under authority. The whole system was a patchwork of trying to enforce some kind of systematic order to things, with occupations and status closely tied to one's own faction and species. The mantis and dragonflies were the main players in politics, with the mantis holding the religious apparatus, and both having major hands in the military, which was very interlinked with politics. The wasps got their influence from their hold on the apparatus of local enforcement, being both numerous and one of the fiercer people. A large part of the population was made up of the moths and bees, but being mainly part of the working sectors, their voices were disproportionally overheard.

There was an universal hate for Amberleaf, it was seen as an obvious pure evil. But the controlling part of society seemed a lot more obsessed with the idea, having built the cutlure around it. The common worker was still heavily despising Amberleaf, but often more concerned with local problems, and seemed very frightful with the topic of war with Amberleaf. For the majority of the people although, the current events had also sparked hope that they might indeed finally achieve their mythicized destiny of getting back their land of Fargarden. They described the idea with religious fervor and grandiousity. The Confederacy had promised them all it now wasn't long anymore, and the people hoped dearly for breathing room from the current chaotic arrangement of Gartentor in the Deepwoods.

RP | Greenside Attack

In the south of Gartentor's held territory, the forces of Greenside had started an attack, fully on their own initiative from the Amberlevian government. The more modern military outgunned the Gartentor forces by a lot, but they lacked the proficiency with the Deepwoods. Brutal guerilla warfare ensued that made it impossible for Greenside to advance properly. The fighting was a slaughter, without much being achieved other than approximately 10'000 casualties on either side.

-

RP | Cracking Faith

While hope and rage and anticipation and desire for catharsis was high in Gartentor, a significant section of the population was filled with fear from what is to come. The terror of Amberleaf was universally affirmed, and those more in the know understood Gartentor was significantly outgunned. Many held on to a fierce fighting spirit, just as a last hopes they indeed would succeed. The recent Greenside offensive had punched in the reality of what a brutal conflict was going to be like. The fantastical image of glorious reconquest had tacken its first crack.

When Amberleaf officially announced it would open the gate for deserters, it had a significant effect, but one that wasn't as visible on the first glance. Even tough trust in Amberleaf was abysmal, for the disloyal it at least provided the chance to escape the brutal war that was considered guaranteed by Gartentorians. Especially the ones who weren't to keen on the Confederacy itself, they didn't mind migrating from one terrible nation to the other, if it meant escaping a war.

As desertion started gaining momentum, the upper chamber of Gartentor began to panic. They couldn't afford loosing any power and faith, which could lead to a devastating domino-effect. The propaganda machine began turning, assuring people of Gartentor's strength and competence against the Amber opressors, and the law-enforcement cut down significantly on desertion. They needed to reinvigorate people. Something needed to happen, something spectacular to give people faith in Gartentor's abilities.

RP | Toxin & Flame

Insiga, an Amberlevian city in Canton Greenside, 5 million people, located on the edge of the Deepwoods.

Otyken had provided major supplies to Gartentor. Weapons of mass devastation. The Gartentorian command thought it'd be now the best point in time to make use of them, before Amberleaf could fully ready itself. The Gartentorian people needed a story to light the fire of rejuvenation. Fire... a good keyword.

Shortly before dawn, Gartentorian Brigades were sent underway towards Insiga. From the Deepwoods they assaulted the Greenside forces, engaging in violent altercation with explosive means. Having come close enough to Insiga, they started the engaging the second phase of the operation. With them they had incendiary and pesticidal drones, barrels of neurotoxins, mines, and a variety of other explosives. They had the orders to absolutely mutilate Insiga. They were ordered to not hold back, and use what they had been so generously gifted.

Not long after the initial bloodshed the local forest was fully engulfed in flames, one of the incendiary drones was rampaging through the inner city. Thousands of pesticide-spraying drones were poisoning the land and the streets. Barrels of toxins had been dumped into the local rivers. Gartentorian forces were fully engaging in their so-long promised catharsis. There was no strategy, there was only devastation. Gartentorian forces didn't have proper training or preclusion with the weapons they were using. Soon, the fire had spread many kilometers wide. The black smoke could be seen from all over Amberleaf.

In their hybris, unable to fully grasp the extent of their destuction, Gartentorian forces found themselves within the eye of their self-made storm of annihilation. A lack of coordination ensured they had been slowly poisoning themselves to death. Most of those who participated in the terror eventually succumbed to their own havoc, being either left to quiver in pain from pesticides or burned by the raging fires.

The region around Insiga was left black and green and burned and deeply noxious and mined.

Estimated Deaths:

50'000 Gartentorian Soldiers
25'000 Amberlevian Soldiers
150'000 Amberlevian Civillians

RP: All the Same
Not much was gained from initial intelligence reports and the sudden, extremely sensitive small talk succeeded in making the “trainers” routinely uncomfortable around anyone that wasn’t their own countrymen. Still, some information was better than none and immediately the state of the nation was concerning. It was extremely divided, power being shared between three specific species while the workers were rarely heard or paid any attention to. Already off to a bad start, and it gained a lot of rolling eyes to the socialist Brennians, though perhaps that was too strong a term, as history and current policy had more made them vaguely leftist and radically democratic, nobody really knew anymore. A class divide was bad enough, but a church that seemed to have as much control as it did over the people drew outward disgust all present, and priests along with anyone of rank got the cold shoulder and even icier eyes.

A military interlinked with politics was always going to end badly, and with such outward hate towards Amberleaf it continued to raise concerns of a simple counter-genocide instead of a fight for freedom. This would no doubt perpetuate an ever worsening cycle of violence, and this planet was more than full of that already. Moths and Bees were by far the most liked out of any species present, probably because they had fluff, but more than likely because they were fellow men of the working class, the little guy. They were however, thoroughly brainwashed, an unfortunate if not understandable fact.

The Greenside Attack was the first sign that perhaps it was time to leave, with Amberlead seemingly declaring war for no discernible reason everyone present could guess what kind of war this would be. Not at all intent on dying in some foreign land many miles away from home, Brennian personnel were ordered to slowly make their way back to the coast, where they would picked up via naval attache and escort. Pace quickened as defections started and wasp law enforcement overstepped their bounds, leading to a few near confrontations with the, very hated, insects. Wasps and Brennians did not get along, the humans saw them as abrasive lapdogs who served a corrupt, fractured police state who should be ashamed of their own existence. Nobody knew what the wasps said about the Brennians, mostly because no one in the group spoke wasp, though it was safe to assume it wasn’t good.

Though they wouldn’t get far before word reached them of the chemical weapon attack on Insiga, which completely shut the group of humans off from any and all authority in the country. Word was quickly sent back to the Republic via secure channels and a rush to the coast was made. They arrived with little issue, but with the problems regarding law enforcement continuing, coming to a head with a small physical altercation which ended in a few cracked carapaces and several severe bite wounds, the Brennian contingent was holed up in a building at the port, armed and not intent on listening to whatever drivel came put of the authorities mouths, simply wanting to go home. If Gartentor was smart, they would let them. They were far from prepared for a conflict with Amberleaf let alone the Brennians.

RP: Shame!
Following the chemical attack on Insiga, an official statement by the Brennian state would air over international television in relation to current events. It was a somber broadcast, but one punctuated by a certain amount of venom. People were gathered by the thousands to hear the speech, as word had reached the internet faster than it had the government. Their response was about what everyone, nationally and internationally expected. Brennus officially condemend Gartentor for an act of mass slaughter against innocent civilians, regardless of the presence of military personnel. Use of indiscriminate weaponry was a horrible, despicable crime and was completely and utterly unacceptable to the Republic.

The address continued, declaring the upstarts a rouge state that had sacrificed its right to govern its own people, as it would so wantonly put them in danger of a retaliatory strike via use of WMDs. The Prime Minister urged the workers, specifically the moths and bees, and those who remained with disloyalty to stop, force their government to call for a cease fire and throw them from their seats of power. To see that their officials thought of them no better than the race of people they hated so much next door, disposable and barely worth consideration. Peace was possible and lands could be reclaimed without senseless slaughter on both sides. Finally, it was urged that the international community donate aid towards the people of Insiga, to send doctors and CBRN gear to help save those who were left, and clean the sullied water of the river. All of this was a political move of course, though one on a backdrop of genuine belief, Gartentor wouldn’t dare renew an attack on the city or others around it if foreign civilians and volunteers were in the area, and quickly a civil task force of medical personnel was offered to Amberleaf to serve this end.

RP | Insiga Contaminated

It took until next morning to put out the fires of Insiga. Large parts of the forest were still burning, but given the catastrophe, that was secondary. The fire had been a lot more devastating outside Insiga, and within had been mostly contained. Only the westernmost part of the metropolis of 5 million people had been majorly hit by the attack. Most of the eastern parts had remained untouched. The much more subtle death lingered in the pesticides in the air, and the toxins in the water. They lingered and spread and set in. Over the 12 hours after the attack had concluded another estimated 100'000 civilians would expire, and many more fall permanently ill. In a little less than 24 hours, the attack had wiped out 5% of the metropolis. And this number would likely grow over the next days. Citizens had been instructed to stay away from the local waters, and flee the highly pesticidal areas.

The aftermath was expected to be a bigger crises than the actual event. Without a fast and proper way to clear the water and air, there was the option of fully evacuating the city. Transporting 5 million people would prove a real challenge, and any hour they lingered might mean another wave of deaths and ills. The path through the Deepwoods was also in enemy territory, and so southern Amberleaf was isolated by land. There was quickly devised an evacuation plan to start migrating the people into the rest of southern Amberleaf, started from the closest to the source of attacks. The biggest problem for Amberleaf would be immense count of hospitalization. Estimates went from 250'000 to 1 Million expected hospitalizations. With the problem of capacity, there was also a problem of how to safely gather and transport all the ill people.

The following instructions were given. Find two healthy colleagues and if you can find, one individual who is ill. With this group you will make yourself to move to one of 4 cities. From the oldest of the group, the last digit determines your destination. 0-3: Nize, 4-5: Pentiza, 6-7: Porland, 8-9: Livertal. The local cities will be managing to supply housing, food and drink, and hospitalization. Exit Insiga through the east, to not block rescue personnel, which will be entering the city through the south.

Medical personnel and supplies were sent via ships from central Amberleaf to assist. Amberleaf would also accept international aid from Brennus.

RP | Change of Tone, Change of Vilight

The overall tone of Amberleaf seemed to have changed rapidly with the event of the Insiga attack. It was perhaps the quickest change in polls the Parliament had lived through for its modern history. Before the Insiga attack, the parliament had been heavily in indecisive argument. Many hadn't taken Gartentor as a serious threat, given their small size and outdated military. Not believing they would ever dare really taking any grand aggressive action. When Gartentor first emerged, there had been the fringe group, which would later be called the Mythics, which had spoken of the grave danger of Gartentor. Pacifists had been calling their antics a hyperbolic stunt, believing more in reconciliation, and how Gartentor wasn't gonna be poisoning the waters. A choice of phrase which seemed now rather embarrassing.

Many were very angry with how lenient the previous parliamentary coalition had been on the topic of Gartentor, and the mood had heavily changed. Pacifist seat count fell from 22 to 10. Militarist seat count rose from 38 to 58. And the very young Mythics shot up from 19 to 32. The Militarist party of Silver Thorn was now only barely behind the Centrist party Honey Circlet, which usually was the single consistent dominant party. With the pendulum swinging so heavily from one side to the other, for the first time in seemingly forever, a coalition was formed that didn't include Honey Circlet. The Mythics, Militarists, and 3 Conservative parties had joined together to form a tight 53% majority, clearly deciding for a shift of tone.

Feylar had been declared Ex-Vilight because of his controversial move not long ago in Azzerie. Under agitation from the Mythics, the new coalition parties came together in a meeting to finally ensure a proper replacement. the Vilight's of old Amberleaf tended to have a more religious and militaristic air, in contrast to the more benign aura of the modern Villight. The Mythics, having already been fawning over this opportunity, had already been nurturing a candidate. The candidate was approved with 73% by popular vote.

Ex-Vilight Feylar came to the ceremony out of a sense of duty. A part of him was glad and another one sad to give up his role. He had always been Vilight, yet he was getting old for a Drone. Feylar ceremoniously passed down his role for the younger one. An individual of faith and tradition, and believer in the Amberlevian armed forces. Vilight Veilchen.

Under the new parliamentary direction, and a popular approval of 78%, Vilight Veilchen announced in the name of Amberleaf a declaration of war against Gartentor.

    RP - WORSENING SITUATION
Though Neuerstaat didn't tend to be politically involved internationally, recent trends have definitely pushed the nation to renew it's old plans for international significance, a result of increasing calls internally for greater involvement abroad from representatives, a worsening global political landscape and calls for contracts by the defense sector.
The sudden cascade of civil unrest Marovoay fell into was certainly unexpected, though it did not urge for any form of intervention, as the majority of the nation's politicians and generals were focused on the situation occurring Prolekult instead. It's safe to say the shootdown of CA-137 over Marovoanise airspace certainly raised interests in the nation's top ranks, both a extremely tragic loss of civilian life at the hands of some unknown terrorist group, as well as a strategic reason to interfere in Marovoanise business.
It goes without a doubt that Neuerstaat sincerely expresses it's condolences to those family members tragically effected by this merciless killing to both the nations of Midribbonia (They wont be tagged cus not much relates to them in this post) and Nonadia.

    [Following section is classified, Obviously]

Though intervention does not come without preparation, as the complex landscape of a nation in collapse is rather difficult to understand, the main motive for an intervention would need to be established, as well as figuring out a side to fight for and aid. Such preparations would begin commencing soon, as the AES would be tasked with investigating the political beliefs, motives, actions, control and leadership of the various parties in this civil war, thankfully, this will be also done in coordination with Nonadia's Nonadian International Intelligence and Research Agency or NIIRA, helping speed along the process, though until further information can be gathered, Neuerstaat shall observe the situation from afar.

May the Marovoanise soon be freed from the brutal reality of war.

    RP - Well Spent
Observing the deteriorating world that surrounds Neuerstaat, it is undoubtable that the nation may soon be tested in their military competence, atleast, that's what many generals believe.
Calls for a revitalization of the military have only grown louder with each civil war and civil unrest case occurring abroad, though the nation hasn't seen any waves of immigrants arriving on the shores of Vesperia, it's unsure if this will remain this way for long, if push comes to shove, Neuerstaat may soon have to deploy it's forces abroad, or even defend against incoming threats.
A unique opportunity can be seen by many, with Sodor's Missa-Dei Shipyards opening up business abroad, expressing their interest to sell to other customers, Neuerstaat has much interest in potentially procuring landing ships for it's future operations, this purchase could be seen as a reassuring sign to Sodorhvtisi'i politicians that Neuerstaat is indeed friendly to them, as well as their business, instilling further trust within the VU and SDC.
Thus, a purchase would be lodged, with Neuerstaat seeking to purchase 56 total LST-18 Landing Ships, totally the cost at roughly 4.93 Billion Rysksmarks or 6.79 Billion Glänzends, a costly deal, though rather miniscule compared to scale of other things.

Preparing these packages has been great for getting orders sent to the manufacturing zone again which hasn't been as active as it could have, but it was up and running again printing rockets and all manner of equipment to assist the new group usurping Amberleaf, surprisingly farm equipment with a few tweaks seemed useful for this situation. Also in their package would be plenty of asymmetric focused and conventional weapons to inflict damage, though Otyken is worried this may make them more of a terrorist force rather than a state actor so moves are being made to supply larger vehicles for conventional engagements when possible.

Message from SI (Clandestine): Some of the implements we have been sending were traditionally used for agriculture; this allows exploitation of spiracles in Formicidae biology; typically, most mammals can wear masks and goggles to protect themselves. Utilization of this equipment can be detrimental and hazardous so we have sent some PPE specially designed for ant biology. Such weapons may be considered taboo within your culture; we do not know if this is the case, but it will provide an edge against a larger force.

REPUBLIC OF NONADIA

    JULY 2013

      ~ [ NONADIA SENDS $75 MILLION IN AID TO AMBERLEAF ] ~
The 🐜 Colony 🐜 of Amberleaf
      The Confederacy of Gartentor

The Nonadian government had longed hoped for close relations with the confidant democracy in Amberleaf. Gartentor leaving the Colony and the security of Silverlore was seen as a threat to regional stability and peace,
especially as part of the international community through their weight behind the illegitimate state of Gartentor. President Furman, with the 2013 election looming in the distance, expressed Nonadia's stance on the issue:

"We have spoken to (Amberleaf), it is in our best interest to support international democracy and regional stability, as Gartentor and its suppliers threaten the status quo that has held the international peace for so long. Nonadia recognizes Amberleaf's authority over the island and condemns other nations' efforts to undermine local security and their attempts to prolong this conflict. We will do everything in our power to dissuade foreign involvement and shorten this struggle. I also call upon Parliament to show support for Amberleaf and get the aid package passed quickly in order to get things moving as fast as possible."

The aid package, which would include $50 million in food and grain as well as $25 million in medical supplies, would very easily pass Parliament with a 402-48 landslide vote. Shipments have begun and messages have been broadcasted to Amberleaf that these ships are carrying civilian aid and no lethal aid, although they would be escorted by a frigate while in international waters in order to discourage any violence. Nonadia will also accept the offer to join the 2-3-4 club in the Phoenix Blossom as to continue cooperation with the Colony.

Furman would also request the construction of a Nonadian embassy in Silverlore, as well as an Amberlevan embassy in Monrovia and for both nations to assign diplomats to eachother.

~ [ NONADIAN FLIGHT SHOT DOWN OVER MAROVOAY ] ~
      The Armed Republic of Marovoay
      The Commonwealth of Neuerstaat

As Nonadia entangled itself in another foreign conflict abroad, the shoot-down and subsequent crash of CA-137 over Marovoay did not fail to complicate matters further. Nonadia called upon the Marovoanise to bring whichever persons gave the command to fire the missile that struck CA-137 to be brought to trial for the deaths of 293. No other public comment would be made, although it was clear something else was being figured out.

      - [ [ [ [ SECRET ] ] ] ] -

President Furman and the Nonadian International Intelligence and Research Agency, behind the backs of Parliament, have secured $5 billion in aid for the Razafimahaleo government in Marovoay. The cited reason for this missing money was road infrastructure, but no road work would really be done. The NIIRA has reached out to Neuerstaater intelligence about a joint effort to stabilize Marovoay under Razafimahaleo.

~ [ FURMAN WINS LANDSLIDE VOTE IN QUESTIONABLE CIRCUMSTANCES ] ~

With no term limits being in Nonadian federal law, President Furman would once again run of the New Nonadian Front's nomination and once again easily win it. The buildup to the 2013 election was contentious, as citizens suffered from erratic spending from the Nonadian government and the average consumer good became more and more expensive. While Parliament justified it in that in order to modernize, they must pay this cost, it seemed as though they had done nothing to actually combat it. Every legislation was made in haste to catch up to the quickly modernizing Vesperia, and of course a normal person would not matter to the government in the long term.

But past all of this, in the dreaded month of July, the election would take place. Despite the popularity of Furman finally waning, the results would show him getting an even larger share of votes than the previous election. With 67 million votes and 71% of the vote share, he would slide right back into his position for another 5 years. Questions were of course raised with the legitimacy of this vote, they asked how he could have become even more popular among Nonadians after his reckless spending spree at the end of his term.

In the days following the finalization of the election, news would come of a opponent in Parliament, Ingram Norris of the United Party, being arrested from his home in San Lata and being dragged to the federal prison in Monrovia. The trials had been going, but news mostly stayed quiet on the case until now. He would be found guilty of one count of concealing documents, 20 counts of falsifying business documents, and one count of filing false tax reports. The aspects of this case, being a very large leader of the opposition to Furman, were very questionable. It was excellent timing to decrease popularity for the opposition and to call for a snap election in a swing district that Furman's party had been targeting in recent years.

Large-scale protests in Monrovia from Ingram's supporters soon followed, joined by any and all opposition to Furman. Over a thousand rioters caused $1 million in damage in northeastern Monrovia, near the Capital. The main causes of damage were rioters breaking down windows and robbing businesses, especially ones suspected of supporting Furman. Over 10,000 people would end up participating in these protests. The only death would be a car bomb in a Parliament representative's seat, which would not end up killing him as he was busy when expected to arrive, and it instead killed an innocent bystander setting their bike up. Northeastern Monrovia has been put under a curfew and the Republican Army has been deployed to prevent further violence from kicking off.

As expected, Furman and the New Nonadian Front denied any and all involvement in the case, and stated that this was justice being served and there was no foul play. They called upon protesters to cease their actions unless they want to get in the army's way.

RP ~ Aquitinian Javelin Toss - 2013 Eclipse Games Event

This event, the vast majority of the participants were, to say the least, highly, disappointing. Many of the judges wished they had spent the day high instead of watching the wimp-armed throws made by the “athletes”, if most of them could be called such. The results were so unimpressive that the judges considered advising the attending nations to have their javelin tossers flogged. However, they decided to rest this decision on the final javelineer, Hadufans Gerstleg of Distan. If they did well, the nations would not be advised to flog their athletes. If they did poorly, they would be advised to do so such, and Hadufan’s nation most of all. Thankfully for Hadufan, they threw very well, better than any of the other previous athletes. Not only did Hadufans avoid being flogged, but they also won first place, and thus a gold medal.

Teyanna of Seibalath also did well, but slightly worse than Hadufans, and Aleks of Sodor only did okay, but that was better than everyone not mentioned already. Thus, Teyanna won silver and second, while Aleks won bronze and third.

The confirmation of the contract would be well received, as work has been slow in recent years. With the contract ready work to deliver it would commence immediately, estimated to take with the airframe deliveries arriving in 2 batches, each 1 year apart from each-over. The equipment will also have offers to send instructors for both the flying of the aircraft and their maintenance.

The first to be delivered in batch 1 was the 5x AAG-24 "Cataphract" painted in the livery of the DRA.
The AAG-24 "Cataphract" is a heavily armoured beast of an aircraft capable inflicting heavy losses on whatever its sent after whether it is the flagship of a navy or an armoured column with its effective armour and countermeasures allowing it to withstand withering anti air fire and its ordinance pulverising any target. There are many stories of cataphracts going out to battle and returning with damage that would cripple or destroy lesser aircraft, these stories tend to effect the pilots making them notably more aggressive when in the air often resulting in said pilots entering situations where the cataphracts durability is tested.

In the second batch the 15x LCH-43 "Dragoon" for the DLA were sent, completing the ₣1.5B contract.
While not the smallest or most agile of helicopters, it certainly is reliable and adaptable with no expense made on the pilots. Designed to operate in any environment from the sea to the mountains its reliability and ruggedness make it very effective in all fields, pair this with its versatile hardpoint attachment system and the dragoon becomes a highly effective airframe able to take on many roles ranging from troop transport to submarine hunting. As for the pilots they will find themselves very comfortable in the well protected and comfortable cockpit which has climate control, an adaptive HUD linked to the sensor suite and a cup holder.

()This would have occurred 2 weeks after your post so by now the contract is fulfilled()
()Also all of the aircraft are in my military equipment handbook()

For a long time Distan has had decent relations with the fellow democracy of Amberleaf. When Gartentor first started their attacks hey were recognised simply as another terrorist state looking to make their mark, however with their use of chemical weaponry and equipment far to modern and advanced for such a small state notice was taken.
Now with the contamination of Insiga an offer of help would be sent to Amberleaf with the evacuation process and in offering to send medical and contamination cleaning specialists to help. As well as a heightened observation on this conflict.

With the negotiations in Hermanburg finished, all documents ratified by both sides and necessary amendments to respective legislations made, the Directorial Republic has entered a status of association with the Phoenix Blossom. Reestablishment of closer ties between old allies has been considered "a major advancement in expansion of Midribbonian diplomatic reach", as characterised in the statement of the Foreign Ministry.

Regarding crisis in Greenside and Deepest

Director Kratov has expressed his condolences to the victims of gruesome and cruel attack on Insiga and the neighbouring territories of the sovereign nation of Amberleaf.

"Atrocities against sapient beings such as use of chemical weapons and any attacks on civilian population shall be denounced by our government. It is my duty to ensure safety of the citisens of this nation and, by proxy, safety of our partner nations. Midribbonia will provide additional funding to the international airlines for evacuation flights. In addition, humanitarian aid will be sent to help in rehabilitation of the population and reconstruction of the regions affected by the Gartentor attacks."

The Foreign Ministry has already denounced actions of the terrorist formation known as Gartentor, and will join in filing an ICJ case against the perpetrators and executors of the attack.

Amphibious assault ships tender

While coming at a hefty price of almost 30 billion MdC, the contract had been signed and fulfilled, delivering the ships in late 2013. New additions to the Midribbonian Navy have received the nickname of the "Taunting Trio", due to their capacity and high expectations in terms of their effectiveness on the battlefield. The Defense Ministry has found a new supplier in face of Sodor and Seljaryssk, albeit a costlier one due to both currency exchange rates and long shipment routes.

Revisiting Lissandre

With the Lissandre Conference celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Foreign Ministry has found it to be appropriate to reconsider some of the optics in regards to the conclusions drawn during the conference. In regards to the conference, the following statement has been issued:

"Over the last decade Lissandre Conference has become synonymous with confrontation and discrimination, sometimes coming from both sides of the political conflict. Yet, as the time has shown, the measures taken by the signatory nations had not been sufficient in achieving their goals, thus diminishing the credibility of such measures. Recognising these factors and current geopolitical circumstances, the Foreign Ministry, in accordance with the national interests of Midribbonia, has started the process of resignation from the Lissandre Accords. Despite this, it is the Ministry's and the National Government's hope that the instrument of international conferences set in motion by Lissandre will remain a significant part of international relations and conflict mediation."

The National Assembly has already received the necessary proposals from the Foreign Ministry in regards of retrieving its ratification of the Lissandre Accords. In the meantime, a request for reestablishment of diplomatic relations has been sent to Averius. A delegation aboard one of the civilian vessels has been sent to the south of Ardentia in hopes of reaching the long-denounced nation.
