Now you've really hit on a deep interest of mine. Henry Darger's life and work are among the most interesting things I've encountered this life of mine. I am at risk of swamping the RMB with discussion about this figure, so I will restrain myself and merely point to a book I found useful. The more salacious bits about his life and works are readily available to anyone willing to look, but this book is more thoughtful and careful in its approach:

If you mentioned this artist before, I cannot remember it. It's a sad-sweet type of video. I looked more into the artist and found this article, which is a pretty good look at his work:

I've definitely encountered some of his pictures floating around the internet. There is indeed a "haunting" quality to them...sad but in an invigorating way.
