Lieutenant General Robinson was content, nor ecstatic but not sorrow. He felt like one of Napoleons marshalls, advancing into the frey. Except of course, it was not he. Which would he be however? Marshall Ney, beloved but yet a hothead? Devout, not beloved but collected?
The waters around Toamasina reminded him of, oh...
"Sir? Your orders?"
"Has it been eight hours for compliance with surrender?"
"It has."
"Then send in the gunboats and frigates to bombard Anjoma. Our heavy ships shall go further south after twenty minutes of that bombardment, and systematically bombard the coastal structures. Civilian casulties in Anjoma and the coastline to be avoided, and so give four minutes of warning shot before each first."
"Yes Sir."
the Lieutenant was visibly pleased this was not to be a horribly merciless affair.
"Dismissed."
the young Lieutenant relayed the orders, and watching the entire affair unfold Robinson smiled. It was perfect. He then asked for a cup of tea, mint, and shortly after it had arrived and he had put his two sugar cubes the Lieutenant arrived
"Sir, what are your further orders?"
"Give them fourty minutes surrender, if they do not bombard the coastline north of Anjoma save the shallow harbour, and target all governments offices with precision airstrikes."
"Yes sir!"
the Lieutenant General once more, while sipping his tea waited for the city to surrender. He brought in Brigader General Tully, Colonel Wangram and Neveisky, and Major Kirus to discuss the grand strategy. Upon hearing that surrender was refused, he reaffirmed his orders.
This however would still not force surrender, and so all factories were targeted. This would undoubtedly cause surrender, however it yet not, and so his hand was forced to landings.
However, it only took two hours of land fighting to break resistance, with Robinson rec the surrender shortly thereafter.
The Iranian commander knows it's a desperate situation, and so he a desperate plan. He orders his troops to prepare to charge, with he himself loading his pistol and rifle, slinging the rifle over his shoulder.
"Fire every shot you have left, and then tell your men to join the charge." he tells the artillery commander.
The Virgin Islander troops experience hell on earth, being bombarded to bits. Those who survive the intial bombardment see buildings collapsing all around them. The Iranian artillery continue to push the Virgin Islanders back, until most guns only have one or two shots left.
"Fire the rest, then pick up a rifle."
The Iranians, headed by Major General Aliflein charge over the pile of rubble and dead bodies, Virgin Islander and comrades alike. The insane charge catches the enemy off guard, with the Iranians pushing them back nearly four blocks. Alilfein however knows that this cannot last, and orders a retreat back to Zargos road.
Even with the thousands upon thousands of dead Virgin Islanders, he knows them to be insane people who will not stop. So, he orders four fifths of his troops, all of third, fourth, eleventh, twenty-sixth core to retreat over the bridges and scatter into the countryside to provide a guerrilla resistance for two weeks. After that, they are to pan out either to their homes or a millitary base.
Alifein and his home guard core guard the retreat, and blow up the bridges leaving no retreat possible. Then, they wait. It'll be a last stand, unless surrender is offered.
