Or maybe...just maybe...we don’t open another embassy and close the the ones we aren’t using already.

Just my two cents on the matter. :-)

Mount Seymour had just mentioned that NWI was willing to align with us during N-day, so this wouldn't be a case where one side is just getting "used." I should hope our relationship with any embassy region is symbiotic and not parasitic ಠ_ಠ

Bloody hell, what are 3-axis things, man? A prime number thing? (like I knew about it)
I can't keep up. Grr!
Not to mention I wouldn't ask what N-day and Z-day are, maybe something to do with...hmmm...New and Zealand separate days??
Forget it about it. I been around NS and Forest for years, but it doesn't make me any smarter :(
Wth are you talking about?

I agree sort out the embassies we already have, some already fall below criteria required (or relax the requirement?)

I think an Embassy with NWI is just the start of another problem as they have already been Conifer (failed) Evergreen Conifer (failed) and now NWI

The New West Indies are an established region, not a direct continuation of Conifer. I invite you to take a look at their regional page to confirm this. Also, Conifer's government has explicitly told me that Evergreen Conifer is dead and we have no reason to maintain that embassy. Raccoon Creek, if we were to close that one, there would not be an increase in the number of embassies that we have. If you can come up with any other embassies that you believe merit closure, post something here calling for closure (I suggest tagging Ruinenlust) and explain your rationale. Asking for a second or seconds would be a good idea as well. I am all for weeding some embassies out but that does not mean that we should stick our heads in the sand!

That's true: it looks like New West Indies were founded in March of 2018, so they would not fall under the 50%+1 "Continuation Embassy", but the 67% "Opening Embassy" category. It is correct to say that they absorbed Evergreen Conifer/Conifer into their preexisting community?

I also quite agree with what several people have expressed in one way or another, which is that we ought to both consider trimming away a few inactive/dead embassies and also be open to new ones that show real promise. I'd love to move on a few of the more obvious closure options, but I tend not to ever advocate for a specific opening or closure, simply because I'd rather the impetus come from the community, not from within the government office.

We are expecting a long-awaited request from Force to come shortly, which I would encourage people to preemptively look out for, and I think it would be a good idea to take up the NWI one immediately after that.

Or we could do the sand thing... OST-RICH OST-RICH OST-RICH! AR-ID DE-SERT LAND-SCAPE! (Savannah just doesn't fit, and maybe they're in drought.)

Good afternoon,

I just wanted to warn you about a nation called Iceland242. They joined your region after being banned from Sonindia for doxxing users on discord. He's also known for flaming and spam.

Please spread this message if possible.

Thanks!

Yes Ruinenlust, that is a fair characterization of the NWI. I have tried to avoid identifying it as a "successor" without qualification.

Escuse me but if you are going to say something like that especially doxxing I would rather you have proof instead of accusing me of things I just wanna be in a region I won’t necessarily join their discord server and I have no interest in spamming stop lying to get regions to reject me

If you have proof, please contact a member of Forest's government privately with said proof. Posting publicly like this does nothing except drag us into whatever your petty squabbles may be.

Post an Account From Your Nation!

In honor of Forest's Crystal Jubilee, post an account from your nation about important anniversaries in your nation, and how you people celebrate your national day!

Post your responses to our offsite forum, or link a dispatch!

See the dispatch, here:

Post an Account From Your Nation

It is Forest’s 15th anniversary, also known as the “Crystal” anniversary in both the US and UK traditions. Many of the other years vary between those two cultures, and certainly in cultural practices that are not so closely linked, there can be major differences between what might be considered traditional gifts, how major landmarks are celebrated, and even which dates or numbers of years those major landmarks are!

Most nations also have at least one “national day” that is celebrated as a state holiday. This can be the day the nation signed its fundamental legal documents, the day it achieved independence, the day of the monarch’s birthday, or other major events in the country’s history. These occasions can be marked with all manner of symbols: street parties, parades, fireworks, military demonstrations, religious services – every culture has its own traditions.

Post an account from your nation! What does your national day commemorate? What are the traditions your native citizens would associate with the occasion? Are there any special dates or anniversaries that symbolically call for certain gifts? Walk us through, as though we were a fly on the wall observing the celebration your nation puts on to commemorate its most important holiday.

Post your own dispatch, and link it or write it up in the forum thread, here:

I have already contacted Forests government via TG.

There are quite a few screenshots of evidence for this if you are interested as well as relatedRMB posts. The Sonindian Government can also vouch for me.

Would this be a matter that a mod would need to handle as well? Doxxing seems extraordinarily malignant! If this was strictly off-site, Mount Seymour should be informed.

The anarchistic states

Sonindia

As an admin from sonindia i can say this, Iceland has made both trans-phobic and insensitive comments towards members of our community. Do with him as you please, give him a second chance, whatever. This is only a warning in an attempt to stop similar incidents from happening here. We gave him more than one chance after his first punishment and he repaid it with insulting and harassing a community member. Which lead to this ordeal.

The doxxing took place on a NS related discord server. The mods said it was outside of their jurisdiction, so that’s that. I felt it was only proper to send out a warning regarding Iceland and his actions.

Can confirm this.

Iceland’s threats and doxxing of players are literally tearing apart our community. We’ve had senior government officials and old RPers alike step down and delete their discord accounts out of fear.

I implore Forest to take action against Iceland. I can’t stand the thought of him getting away with something like this a second time.

Edit (here are some post on the crisis):

If it was off-site, Mount Seymour should be shown the evidence because they are in charge of both our forum and our Discord server.

Its my understanding that The taklamakan desert is handling this rn. I'll let him know.

33 minutes ago: The Commonwealth of Iceland242 departed this region for Order of the Southern North.

That was a short and rather bothersome visit.

Back to our regularly scheduled Summon Bigger Fish squashing.

You missed my point entirely... I truly do not care and was merely joking; my days in government are long gone. However speaking as a former Foreign Minister of Forest and as an individual who has been apart of the broader NS Universe for the past six years, I view and hold embassies in high regard. They are not to be taken lightly and should signify the effort and goal of two regions to forge stronger inter-regional relations. Now, presently the amount of embassies which Forest currently possesses I view as being unacceptable considering that a majority are sitting idle with no interaction or lasting validitiy or reason to maintain the embassy. The forest could very well use a controlled burn of its embassy row.

I'm sure that Ruinenlust, as well as Mount Seymour, and the other senior members of government are aware of my views on the matter; they haven't changed or wavered in my time in Forest. Whether any proactive steps will be taken in regards to the overgrowth of embassies, only time will tell.

I personally would be fine with pruning embassies of dead regions or other regions we never collaborate with. I'm not really the person to be very involved with such a process, however. Maybe later I could propose the worst offenders, though I don't really have the time right now, and I don't know if you'll want to do that with the queue it sounds we have on embassy votes.

I believe there has been a slight mix-up regarding our embassy with Texas. I've been working as the ambassador there, but when I went to post this month's awareness report yesterday, I noticed another ambassador from here had already posted it: Toa moa. My resident embassy nation there is Steppe

I have no problem at all if you'd like to replace me with another. Just let me know, so I can stop following their board. Cheers

Just made the 20th update to the map since I have come into possession of it. Interesting.

I'll be away from my desktop for a week, so don't be disappointed if I can't get to a request.
