Then you would love a parrot.

Although turtles are cold blooded, they are considered the most intelligent of reptiles. I had pet turtles as a kid and they recognized me and knew that I was the one who fed them.

I also had gerbils as an adult--two brothers who were given to me from a friend whose gerbils accidentally bred. They were awful. I could only pick them up by the tail because they were so fast. And one day one of them died while I was at work and when I came home I discovered that the living one had eaten most of the dead one. That's why I like hamsters--solitary loners who'll kill each other, but won't eat each other.

I had a Parrot. My father - in - law brought it from Africa. He was a Commando in the Collonial War. Back in the 1960's.
I had cats and dogs and all sorts of pets. Funny thing, they eventually died. And my parents. And my siblings. They all relied on me to bury them in the backyard.
Cowards. All of them.

The large parrots, unless you're very young, may outlive you. And they will mourn your death forever. I have one of the little guys, a parrotlet, whose lifespan is about 20 years.

So sad when you raise a dog from a puppy, train it just the way you want it, and then watch him die of old age. I'm done with dogs. Now I just enjoy my "grand-dogs." I just got done boarding one for 2 months, and in another month I'll board a different one for a week. And after that, thank the Lord, they go back to their owners.

A meaningful hot blood. A nervous system. Signs of intelligence no matter what they say. Unlike cold-hearted blooded animals, they can be taught.

You might be able to teach a cat, but you can’t teach him much. They tend to train their owners. At least they smell better than dogs…

You're right. Cats are feral.
Dogs are special. The first live being ever to go to space was a dog. Laika was her name.

I believe NASA chose the animal closest to humans. A chimp.

Hope you go to college. The World needs bright young things. I believe youth.
Why,? Because losing hope is the greatest loss of liberty

Thanks to all those who contributed input regarding the welcoming TG. The general consensus was to leave it as it is, so that's what we'll do.

And a hearty welcome to Shadowclan-. Lots of shadow nations out there.
