I hate that people are using that small fact to tear up statues of men who weren't bad and had nothing personally to do with slavery. Not all the southern generals or officers were bad men some just fought because of loyalty to the state they were from.
It's a tragic loss of history and it deeply upsets me. We should use them to teach not to bury them and appease one group of people the African American community who wants to tear up our history.

My great great great grandfather was an officer in the 5th Georgia Calvary and then transferred into the infantry, he was a surgeon and survived getting shot at Gettysburg or Antietam can't remember and went on to move to Texas and practice medicine and gave medical care away for free to people and was doing a house call when he suffered a stroke and died at 48.
He was also a mason and was buried with honor. A great guy and Corpus Christi Texas had to buy his land to build the city he owned all of that land.

My 2x great grandfather was in the civil war he was born in 1832 and also fought in the Mexican American war. My great grandfather was born in 1894. So that's how it happened.

Several of my great uncles if I recall were Nazis. Like really bad Nazis. Basically everyone except my great grandfather was active in concentration camps etc. That's the unfortunate family secret.

Yeah he told me about being a little kid and seeing that. It's really depressing but a good way to learn history is to hear about it from people who were present.
I had relatives in the us army as well as Soviet relatives. Yeah it's crazy. My cousins are Russian and my other cousins Cuban I have a interesting family lol. I swear people think my older cousin is my girlfriend cause she's got darker skin and jet black hair and looks middle eastern.

Also I've got Currency from the Republic Of Texas. Did you guys know what's effectively the Bible on Confederate currency was written by my grandfather and a friend and almost all the bills in it belonged to my grandfather who is and was the best collector of Confederate currency in the world.
