WA Affairs (GA) - FOR the "Convention on International Arbitration"

Following the reset of General Assembly law this past summer, the international community abolished the various overbearing and paternalistic World Assembly Agencies of the past. As a result, the time for rebuilding international law on trust, cooperation, and sovereignty has come. In turn, international arbiters that can facilitate international law, order, and justice are needed. The new GA proposal, submitted by
Ubertas and co-authored by MLGDogeland and
Gudetama, does just that.
The proposed resolution seeks to establish the Commission to Organize Universal Rights and Treatment (COURT). The COURT's purpose is to settle disputes that individual national-level justice systems cannot. The COURT can handle "Breaches of International Conduct" or instances where international law or the sovereignty of another member state is threatened. This can be border disputes or national policies that may undermine or infringe upon the sovereignty of a neighbor. The COURT provides "opt-in" arbitration to any member states that adopt the resolution, meaning they accept the judgments and decisions in exchange for a third-party arbiter.
There may also be instances where national/native justice systems may refuse or prevent justice from being carried out (an "Impossible Amelioration of Justice"). In such cases, COURT uplifts victims who cannot access justice in their home nation. It does not simply address a lack of a judicial system, but willful measures taken to prevent justice from being heard. The COURT has procedures for hearing and evaluating whether such cases meet the standard, and then provides a voice and reconciliation to the victim. For other member states that adopt this resolution, it encourages them to provide resources and support in upholding these rulings and assist in investigations. This makes them enforceable through sovereign cooperation and not international bureaucratic overreach. While member states can refuse to support these decisions, they must make their reasons clear and public.
For these reasons, we recommend voting FOR the "Convention on International Arbitration".
