The Ancient Republic of Zeorus is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Nasi Reuel with an even hand, and renowned for its rampant corporate plagiarism, keen interest in outer space, and daily referendums. The compassionate, cheerful, devout population of 27.418 billion Zeorusians enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, liberal, socially-minded morass — is dominated by the Department of Education, although Welfare, Environment, and Public Transport are also considered important, while Law & Order and Defense aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Pardes. The average income tax rate is 91.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Zeorusian economy, worth a remarkable 2,573 trillion efahs a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector is solely comprised of the Book Publishing industry. Average income is 93,863 efahs, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Billions of efahs are being poured into a space program, the government sends submarines to retrieve bodies from shipwrecked submarines, deceased politicians spam the public with thousands of AI-generated voicemails, and former stunt pilots are unable to pass the licence test to fly a drone. Crime is totally unknown. Zeorus's national animal is the bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is the cult of the Overseer.

Zeorus is ranked 26,770^th in the world and 1,484^th in Osiris for Safest, scoring 110.35 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
