The Kingdom of Trasta is a large, orderly nation, renowned for its frequent executions, compulsory military service, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 125 million Trastamarans are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.
The relatively small, moralistic, pro-business, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Law & Order, and Defense. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 9.6%.
The very strong Trastan economy, worth 7.70 trillion Reais a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Retail, and Cheese Exports. Average income is 61,572 Reais, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 215,663 per year while the poor average 12,763, a ratio of 16.9 to 1.
War criminals are given full state funerals, the death penalty has been reintroduced, the government is seen to favor traditionalist religions, and all tariffs have been abolished. Crime is moderate, possibly because it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many regulations. Trasta's national animal is the Falcon.
Trasta is ranked 142,389th in the world and 95th in The Western Isles for Most Advanced Defense Forces, scoring 1,548.64 on the Total War Preparedness Rating.
