The Lavender Country Factbook

The Lavender Country is an Autonomous Trust Territory under the protection of Gardavasque with a stable locally-controlled government, but with international relations administered by the Foreign Ministry of Gardavasque. It was originally established in 1858 as an isolated and sparsely populated "experimental penal colony for degenerates," however it's political and economic success soon began to attract wiling immigrants from numerous other nations from Gay, Texas, Forest, NationStates, and the International Democratic Union. In 1920, the Queer Separatist Movement in Gardavasque started as a backlash to a rising religious conservative and the Temperance Movement which sought the ban of dozen of "vices" such as alcohol, cannabis, certain sex practices including extramarital sex, interracial marriage, divorce, gambling and even popular dance. Within 10 years, the population increased by 1,000%. Today The Lavender Country is a thriving Left-Leaning College State with a diverse culture. It's Provisional Government meets in the capital city of Queer Lake.
