The Republic of Nuala is a tiny, safe nation, remarkable for its state-planned economy, absence of drug laws, and stringent health and safety legislation. The democratic, devout population of 8 million Nualans enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.
The large, liberal, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Welfare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 56.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.
The weak Nualan economy, worth 218 billion euromarks a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is fairly diversified, is led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Soda Sales, Book Publishing, and Uranium Mining. Average income is 27,292 euromarks, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.
Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nuala's national animal is the eagle.
Nuala is ranked 97,666th in the world and 6th in Ireland for Lowest Crime Rates, with 68.25 law-abiding acts per hour.
