The Republic of MegaTokyo-3 is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and renowned for its pith helmet sales, smutty television, and daily referendums. The hard-nosed, hard-working, humorless population of 37.365 billion Meganians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The minute government, or what there is of one, is dominated by the Department of Education, with Law & Order also on the agenda, while Spirituality and International Aid are ignored. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Meganian economy, worth an astonishing 19,750 trillion nu-yens a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Woodchip Exports, and Automobile Manufacturing. Average income is a breathtaking 528,589 nu-yens, with the richest citizens earning 5.2 times as much as the poorest.

Money can't buy love but mercy is entirely negotiable, the new iVote app allows representatives to vote on legislation by launching ill-tempered birds and matching candies, space has been brought down to earth with constellations of cancer cases across MegaTokyo-3, and members of the government all have oddly similar anecdotes about their childhoods. Crime, especially youth-related, is so common that it is unusual to encounter someone following the law, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. MegaTokyo-3's national animal is the dove, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.

MegaTokyo-3 is ranked 60th in the world and 1st in The Continent of ReC for Largest Basket Weaving Sector, scoring 24,144.08 on the Hickory Productivity Index.
