The Colony of Elx is a colossal, cultured nation, notable for its daily referendums and compulsory military service. The hard-nosed, hard-working, devout population of 2.891 billion Il·licitàs are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Spirituality, Education, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Elx. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 10.0%.

The strong Il·licità economy, worth 214 trillion pessetas a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Trout Farming, Furniture Restoration, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 74,124 pessetas, with the richest citizens earning 6.8 times as much as the poorest.

Jennifer Government is a bestseller, the fire protection service is wholly government-funded, it is illegal to distribute Girl Guide Cookies without an advanced food hygiene diploma, and Elx has designated Elx as its capital city. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Elx's national animal is the lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Elx is ranked 257,296^th in the world and 223^rd in Equilism for Nudest, with 63 cheeks per square mile.
