The Protectorate of BEKM is a titanic, safe nation, ruled by Erich Yoda with a fair hand, and renowned for its irreverence towards religion, suspicion of poets, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic population of 13.305 billion Bekmites enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

The enormous, liberal government is dominated by the Department of Healthcare, although Education, Welfare, and Law & Order are also considered important, while Spirituality receives no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Aldana. The average income tax rate is 64.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but inefficient Bekmese economy, worth 474 trillion Kronors a year, is quite specialized and led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Cheese Exports, and Uranium Mining. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 35,652 Kronors, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, BEKM has designated Aldana as its capital city, and Erich Yoda has just been declared ruler of BEKM in an international press conference. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. BEKM's national animal is the Peregrine Falcon, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

BEKM is ranked 131,129^th in the world and 142^nd in Forest for Most Advanced Law Enforcement, scoring 1,806.2 on the Orwell Orderliness Index.
