The Emirate of Averxia is a massive, efficient nation, remarkable for its public floggings, absence of drug laws, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, devout population of 1.029 billion Averxians are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The minute, corrupt, pro-business government, or what there is of one, is effectively ruled by the Department of Defense, although Industry is also considered important, while Welfare and Social Policy aren't funded at all. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 2.5%.

The thriving Averxian economy, worth 111 trillion Averxian Credits a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Retail, Gambling, and Uranium Mining. Average income is an impressive 108,235 Averxian Credits, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 980,554 per year while the poor average 1,408, a ratio of 696 to 1.

Cheap and tasteless vegetables flood the markets, behind every local dictator is an Averxian advisor whispering in their ear, Violetist maidens who fall for an outsider must leave their violet light districts in shame, and cities are engulfed by smog. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Averxia's national animal is the Averxian Sand Worm, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Averxia is ranked 197,674th in the world and 666th in the Plains of Perdition for Largest Black Market, with 511 billion Standard Monetary Units.
