Opinions on Utopian Socialism? Obviously, the original conception didn't last very long before Marxism was established and blew it out of the water philosophically, but I think some of the ways they were attempting to bring about socialism are interesting in conception. It seems to me that it'd be far easier to establish small independent communes & collectives rather than trying to revolute the entire gosh darn world. I mean if you set up a commune with the idea of trying to get that social construction to catch on, and fail in getting others to adopt the model but are nevertheless successful in maintaining your own commune, isn't that still kinda a success? My general problem with it is that whenever they tried to set up these things in the 19th century they were: 1. Based largely on religious principles, 2. Resultantly awfully cultish, and 3. Seem to have suffered from that 3 Generations Rule (they all go to pot after 3 generations since founding, a concept from sci-fi).
