The Union of Socialist Republic of Germannia is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Smedley Butler with an even hand, and remarkable for its parental licensing program, daily referendums, and keen interest in outer space. The hard-nosed population of 2.503 billion Germannia have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The relatively small, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gremannia. The average income tax rate is 21.1%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Germannibus economy, worth 435 trillion dollars a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, broadly diversified black market in Information Technology, Arms Manufacturing, Retail, and Book Publishing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 174,046 dollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Red Cross demand for body bags is rising while sutures go unused, commercial ships often report keel and hull damage from coral reef impacts, public executions just aren't the cheery spectacles they once were, and citizens select which government department gets their income tax dollars each year. Crime is totally unknown. Germannia's national animal is the Gray Wolf, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Germannia is ranked 105,000th in the world and 324th in The Leftist Assembly for Safest, scoring 80.94 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
