Lord, help children with disabilities know they are loved and they matter to You and the world. Through Your Spirit, help workers train parents and community leaders to walk in humility to eliminate destructive stigma toward people with disabilities. May children with disabilities be afforded improved access to basic services, healthcare, and education.

All Powerful God,
We honor today those men and women—
Our sons and daughters,
Husbands and wives,
Fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers—
Who have laid down their lives for their country.

Loving Lord, bless them forever in Your eternal peace.
Let the sounds of strife, the cries of battle, the wounds of war
be calmed for all eternity in Your loving and endless grace.
Let these great warriors find rest at last,
Ever reminded that we who are left behind
Cherish their spirit, honor their commitment,
send them our love,
and will never forget the service that they gave.

Amen.

Beloved Father,
through the Holy Hearts of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, You have shown us Your great love.
Help us to persevere in Faith, Hope, and Charity as we journey through life so as to meet You in the next.
Who lives and reigns in union with the Holy Spirit,
God, world without end. Amen.

God, source of all freedom,
this day is bright with the memory of those that declared that life and liberty are your gift to every human being.
Help us to continue a good work begun long ago. Make our vision clear and our will strong; that only in human solidarity will we find liberty, and justice only in the honor that belongs to every life on earth.
Turn our hearts towards the family of nations: to understand the ways of others, to offer friendship, and to find safety in the common good for all.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Habemus papam!

Cardinal Stoffa has become Prelature Pope Dietrich of the Virtual Roman Catholic Church.

Let us pause a moment to reflect upon all the VRCC prelature popes: Jeremias, Flavius Josephus, Edward, Gregory, Luke, Ave Maria, John Peter, and now Dietrich.

O God, who in your providential design
willed that your Church be built upon blessed Peter,
whom you set over the other Apostles,
look with favor, we pray, on all of our Prelature Popes
and grant that they, whom you have made Peter’s successors,
may be for your people a visible source and foundation of unity in faith and of communion.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

"I am the resurrection and the life;
whoever believes in me, even if he dies,
will live, and everyone who lives
and believes in me will never die."

O God, Protector of all people and nations,
protect the people of Israel
from the violence and evil of others.
Keep them safe from the weapons of hate and destruction
and guard them against the deeds of evildoers.
Grant them your protection and care
in tranquility and peace.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

We were brilliant! Our tiny regions placed 4 times in the top 100!

As we approach the date when Americans celebrate Thanksgiving, honoring the friendship of the settlers and the native Americans, I am posting the Iroquois prayer for Thanksgiving. When I posted this in several regions, a few Thanksgivings ago, I was criticized for posting a "pagan" prayer. However, I think the prayer is poignant and beautiful. And who, after all, is the Great Spirit?

We return thanks to our mother, the Earth, which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams, which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs, which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases.
We return thanks to the corn, and to her sisters, the beans and squash, which give us life.
We return thanks to the bushes and trees, which provide us with fruit.
We return thanks to the wind, which, moving the air, sends sadness away.
We return thanks to the moon and stars, which have given us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to our grandparents, who have protected their grandchildren from witches and reptiles, and have given us their rain.
We return thanks to the sun that has looked upon the Earth with beneficent eye.
We return thanks to the Great Spirit, who embodies all goodness, and who directs all things for the good of the children.

Legion of christ

Dear Lord, I give to you all the members of my family. You know them all so well and love them all too. Lord, I ask that you would cover us with a shower of hope.

Father, a hope that draws us together to work out our differences, and that helps us to celebrate together and care for one another.
A hope that rides like a banner in our lives and watches over us wherever we may go.
A hope that overcomes adversity and gathers strength to overcome.
A hope that guides us and gives us a vision for our future alone and together.
Lord give us hope filled with love, and which fuels faith.
A hope that breathes peace.

May our family live in you
Underneath your promises.
Amen.

Loving God,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake.
Amen.

The Lord bless you and keep you! The Lord let His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!

May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding us from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening us to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making our path easy,
But by making us sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from us,
But by taking fear from our heart;
Not by granting us unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping our face bright, even in the shadows;
Not by making our life always pleasant,
But by showing us when people and their causes need us most,
and by making us anxious to be there to help.
God's love, peace, hope and joy to us for the year ahead.
Amen.

Never gonna give you up

Toss your vile region over to me and I'll exorcise it.

Gracious God,
today begins a period of inner reflection and examination.
The days stretch before me and invite me inward to that silent, holy space that holds your Spirit.
This special time beckons me to see my life through Christ's eyes and the truth and reality of your love incarnate.
Give me the grace to enter the space of these days with anticipation of our meeting. And, when I open my soul to your presence, let your loving kindness flow over me and seep into the pockets of my heart.
I ask this for the sake of your love.
Amen.
