The New Nordic Union wrote:Socialism is when the government does a thing

Socialism /soshalisam/- An ideology in which the government takes most of the control on economic matters, such as industry. It provides exclusive civil freedoms, but the economy is majorly centralised. However, the ideology is away from both Communism and Capitalism. Sentence-India follows Socialist ideology, but recently they've shifted to Capitalism.

The OG Your Moms Mom wrote:Please explain because I like a free market not a government controlled economy. Socialism is bad.

From my knowledge, a socialist society is mostly free from the negatives in a pure capitalist society, such as the one you find in the USA. But a purely socialist society wouldn’t have everyone happy, the same way as how purely capitalist societies don’t make everyone happy (especially the lower class..). That is why many countries in Western Europe actually are semi capitalist-socialist, meaning they are free market economies, but, as The New Nordic Union says, the government does a thing, which is quite beneficial for everyone involved. Socialism, or at least, socialist policies, when applied properly, are pretty nice.

Oh, another dangeorus phrase to ignite a classical debate:

Murkovia wrote:socialism is better than capitalism.

Well, I don't pick any side, however, this very well explains how relative this kind of discussions are:

The OG Your Moms Mom wrote:Please explain because I like a free market not a government controlled economy. Socialism is bad.

But I spotted two fellow rational people like me, prefectly described somewhat objectively, and left everyone to think their opinion about it:

The New Nordic Union wrote:Socialism is when the government does a thing

The OG Your Moms Mom wrote:Socialism is an economic and political philosophy encompassing diverse economic and social systems characterised by social ownership of the means of production, as opposed to private ownership. It describes the economic, political, and social theories and movements associated with the implementation of such systems. Wikipedia

Apart from this capitalism vs socialism debate, please don't mind me to change topic to another thing, more unitive if can be said that way. Here's my two question, first is about what're expected from me, and second is about you, so I can understand you:

- As an engineer, what is systematical methods to approach political talks, do observations, examine these and decide? (Mindset, I mean by saying "As an engineer.")

- As a [instert identity], how should [that identity] work on these?

(Not: Remember, I didn't pick any side. Maybe this talk would lead me to decide, frankly I don't know any idea to pick.)

anyway, everyone hates George Orwell, socialists/communists hate him because he criticized the Soviet Union, and conservatives/liberals hate him because he was a socialist.

The OG Your Moms Mom wrote:Bro had a seizure

Yes I am now in 1984, just before Bo Burnham's 1985.
