In the early afternoon of January 13, 2034, the death of Alexander Rasande, a leader of an ethnic Vikonnan community, was reported. Rasande, about 35, was a worker at a state-owned company during the Bright administration, but lost his wife after the disaster of the island. Then the company where he works was sold to an Atrochan settler, and the new owner imposed new labor rules.

Rasande and a group of workers unhappy with the new labour regulations decided to create the Society of Vikonnan Workers, to defend their rights. However, complaints of labor disputes were not sent to the Atrocha government, but to the Vikonna Island Company, which dismissed the case. Considerably annoyed, also by the change of names, the banning of Vikonnan as an official language and the high prices, Rasande began to recite speeches in the city of Ajenjo against the measures taken in the new territory of Atrocha.

Singled out as a "motivator of violent incidents" by the Company, Rasande had planned to go to the territory's capital city, Ribera, to spread the Society's ideas. However, in the middle of the town square, a hooded man killed him with a pistol, killing Rasande with three shots. He reportedly still had vital signs after the shooting, but because the hospital in Santa Isabel del Brom was far north, he died on the way. There are no reports that the killer has been arrested.

The Vikonnan Workers' Society claimed to be mourning the murder, while holding the Company responsible for the crime. More "violent incidents" are recorded in Ribera and Ajenjo, while the company says it is dealing with a "vandalism gang" that takes refuge in the Malorte Mountain Range. The Captaincy General of Joné has occupied Torremaría, and has asked the General Staff for a direct intervention in Vikonna.

I mean, my condolences.

Oh also, Atrocha, I think we’ve talked about this before but do we have a term for “Hispanic” people yet? Is it just Altusian? I figured I’d ask you but there’s other people I can ask.
