I have some bittersweet news. After some fits and starts over the past month, it's become clear that some events in my real life are making me incapable of governing as Venice's Doge at this present time.

I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Grand Chancellor Tuandle who has kept the flame going in my absence. The next few months are uncertain, but it is clear that interim leadership is needed to carry on our region in these challenging times.

I have decided to appoint Mokelia as Regent of Venice who will act as Doge in my absence. I hope that my activity will gradually improve over the next few weeks to allow us to work hand-in-hand toward a restoration of our Thalassocratic Republic, but until then Regent Mokelia shall be in charge.

I will be supporting the Regent and our government with a massive recruitment drive, with Consiglio elections to follow. I believe that Venice is down, but we are not out, and I am hopeful for the coming summer and future days.
