Siege Ladder The simplest, and most dangerous way, to scale enemy fortifications is with a siege ladder. They are simple to use but offer no cover for the soldiers climbing them.
Siege Tower A large, moveable tower on wheels, siege towers are designed to be rolled right up to an enemy's walls, so that they can deploy their bridges over the enemy fortifications. Most are made of wood, but some are reinforced with iron plates to prevent them from being set alight.
Battering Ram A simple but effective machine, battering rams are designed to be wheeled directly in front of the enemy's gate, where then a large wooden or metal rod is slammed repeatedly into the doors to force them open. They come in many sizes and varieties, some large enough to smash down the sturdiest steel gates.
Ballista Essentially a giant crossbow, the ballista is capable of hurling projectile weapons with pinpoint accuracy. Much like battering rams, they come in many shapes and sizes, some small enough for anti-personnel work, others large enough to directly damage fortifications.
Trebuchet An incredible power type of catapult, trebuchet's are capable of launching massive stone projectiles over large distances, allowing them to smash enemy fortifications with ease. They use a series of counterweights to generate the power needed to fling their projectiles with such great force.
Bombard While still viewed with some suspicion, black powder weapons such as this bombard are increasingly becoming the Madruejian siege engine of choice. Heavy, unwieldy, and expensive, these cannons are unbelievably powerful, easily the most powerful siege engines ever produced in Madrueji.
Combonation Catapult A prototype weapon, this siege engine has a twofold weapon system. The bottom tier contains a cannon, while the top portion is designed to fire dead bodies at the enemy in hopes of spreading disease. Improper corpse disposable is forbidden in Zoroastrianism, but that hasn't stopped some enterprising commanders from utilizing the weapon anyway.
Assault "Vehicle" Able to protect soldiers standing behind the vehicle, this metal contraption is also able to function as an offensive weapon when pushed with speed, thanks to the large number of spikes protruding from it.
Siege Elephants While often used on their own for their destructive potential, elephants are large enough to support certain siege engines. They can shoulder "troop boxes" filled with archers and other projectile troops, small ballista, and even short siege towers. |
And done! For now, at least
