The Embassy; Everyone Knows It

I'm back! After stuff going on in my home region, on other sites and games, and in my own real life, I have finally found time to write again. But this isn't about me. It's about The Embassy. The region whose mission is to have embassy with every other region on the site. Currently the region boasts 4,755 embassies (at the time of writing), equal to 1 embassy for every 5 regions in the game. But they aren't stuffy hoarders of their embassies, they use their RMB for nation to post news and have a good time with countries from all around NS. It's truly a remarkable region, but how did it start?

A Brief History of The Embassy

April 15th, 2015: The region was founded.

September 2015: The region starts actively collecting embassies. Guardian Network (now CTEd) was the region to beat for the most embassies, along with SECFanatics and [region]The Bar on the Corner in Every Region/region] (2 collectors still around today, well TBH sorta ruined SECFanatics but...).

The Founder CTEs (unknown date): The Wolf Clan moves in for the kill and raids the region and ordered many embassies closed. Fortunately (or unfortunately, seeing as I have TWC affiliation) TITO (ugh, fendas) moved in and cancelled this. But no one had enough influence to add a password to protect the region. According to The ambassadors reception (who I will get to in a bit) "The solution was for The magical puppet to eject a load of nations. This depleted their influence, but with fewer nations in the region, A Goblinoid Merchant then had enough influence to add a password. The region was safe.

June 2020: The raiders were salty, they wanted The Embassy. So they went to the SC and tried to get the region liberated, but it didn't pass.

An Interview with The ambassadors reception

Q:How did you get started in the region?

A: After TITO had rescued all the embassies, it seemed a wasted effort if the place just got raided again. I advised The magical puppet & A Goblinoid Merchant how to go about adding a password (which sounds easy, but it's made complicated by having to calculate the influence needed).

Q:What's the weirdest occurrence in your RMB?

A: Hmm. Hard to say. But I remember being surprised when a three-year old nation discovered that they could post on embassy RMBs.

Q:Do you accept jobs?

A: Do you mean, "Do we accept nations into The Embassy?"
Not usually, no. It's a security risk to let people in.

The Embassy is great. It is a hub of culture, diplomacy, and spammy posts. It's hard to imagine NS without it. It's been the multi-universal meeting place for us. I remember the first time I saw the region in my region list of embassies. I wondered what this region could be, why anyone would make it. I thought it was merely a challenge to get the most embassies as possible, but it's more than that. From it's monthly newspaper "The Cable" and it's ambassadors willingness to give everyone a canapés... on this online game we play people have been making the strangest and most awesome things, The Embassy is the epitome of our game.

In regards to my previous post, we have agreed not to shut down our embassies. Thank you for looking out at us during this crisis. We will now rebuild our region again, and I do need some help.

I propose going nuclear, first fission then fusion. It'll allow us to not have to change our energy habits drastically while having the only emissions of water vapor and nuclear waste (which is being worked on to be recyclable as more fuel).

I oppose fission owing to the nuclear waste. Fusion is not yet a proven technology, so safety from nuclear accidents is a concern. Wind, tidal, geo-thermal, and solar are the preferred more environmental friendly methods. I would have included hydro-electric, but large dam construction projects have proven too disruptive to river basins with their dependent ecosystems. The sooner humans move away from wood, coal, oil, and all other greenhouse gas producing fuels, the better for our Earth.

Wind and solar have pathetic outputs, meaning big farms, meaning their environmental benefits are negated, that and solar involves a really toxic manufacturing method and wind poses a danger to birds and also causes noise pollution. Tidal could work, but then it's really just wind energy converted to work underwater. Not sure about geothermal, not enough information to answer.

We both oppose fossil fuels, that's for sure. Only thing is some of my family works in the oil industry, and I'm not going to tell them to "lEaRn To CoDe".

As for the waste, as I stated before, it's being worked on. It can potentially be recyclable.

I think it's probably worth you revisiting those points. I've not been keeping up to speed, but I'm sure I read that California was producing more solar than it could consume.

Eripolis wrote:meaning big farms, meaning their environmental benefits are negated,

Why are big farms a bad thing? Is this not an argument that could be applied to agricultural farms or golf courses too?

Eripolis wrote:that and solar involves a really toxic manufacturing method

Presumably more friendly methods of production are being investigated?

OBJECTION!

The problem with all of this arguments is that solar and wind power just work on specific zones, for example it's not like I could put a solar plant on Siberia can I, because there's not enough sun or wind to power them, that's why nuclear power is more reliable. because nuclear power plants can be built anywhere and everywhere, yes nuclear waste is a problem, but humanity has also been developing ways to get rid of it more easily and sometimes nuclear waste can have some use, as their components sometimes can be used to create new elements, such as when uranium decays, it becomes helium.

Fun, a debate.

I support solar power. If we have big enough fields of it we'd never have to worry about energy until the sun explodes. Wind is a meh, just too big and clunky. Nuclear is ok, but where are we going to put all the waste?

Also an instance of singing happened.

That's a big "If", son. Solar would only be most reliable at the equator. We both agree that wind is clunky, and loud I'd say. About the nuclear waste, we're working on ways of recycling it.

Another alternative would be hydrogen cells. You can find hydrogen literally anywhere. Also free water for anyone who needs it.
