How do you think the government makes money? They tax the people! This is how they end up paying for salaries for certain jobs such as the police, military, National Parks, all of it.
Sure, its unpleasant, but its required to keep many jobs in effect
Although I will say the US tax system needs to be simplified just so we don't have to HIRE people to do our taxes
