TRTHNBB is happy to announce our first-ever writing competition, we know in TRTHNBB we have plenty of great writers and in preparation for Halloween, we would like to give this opportunity for our fellow nations to share their creativity and compete for a TRTHNBB Literature Award. We would also like to open this competition up to participants from all of our fellow embassies regions too.

What should I write about? We want to keep this competition as simple as possible... We would like a spooky story, one which best captivates the reader, builds the setting and is original! Of course, your story can include NS references if you like although this is not a requirement.

Our four simple rules;

1. All entries must follow NS site rules (PG 13 and SFW)

2. Keep your story to a sensible length

3. All content must be original

4. One submission each

The deadline to submit your story is 31st October, Halloween itself!

These stories will be judged by a few professional and competent members of the TRTHNBB regional government.

NUCL’s Campaign for Chancellor of the InterLeft

Dear InterLeft colleagues,

I am New United Common-lands, WA Delegate of The Region That Has No Big Banks, I am currently in my second term within the regional government serving as Prime Minister and formerly as Deputy PM. Over the past year, we have brought about significant progress including, a population and activity boom, RP development, the comeback of our regional newspaper, and setting a new foreign policy.

I’ve demonstrated proactivity to drive improvements within TRTHNBB, I now want to lead the InterLeft and I believe I’m the candidate with the vision and plan to deliver that, through the next 3 months.

My immediate next steps will be to appoint an InterLeft cabinet; we need a Vice-Chancellor, Director of Culture, Director of Defense and Director of Diplomacy. I will ask these to lead commissions on culture, defence and diplomacy to bring together the ideas from all member regions. Alongside this we need to focus on getting our InterLeft General Assembly and Solidarity charter complete.

My term’s objectives;

• Organise commissions on culture, defence and diplomacy

• Citizens, MPs and leadership to define vision and long term objectives of the InterLeft

• Develop organisational branding

• Hold and organise InterLeft events

• Identify new candidates for the InterLeft

So before I get into my account and some of the N-day ‘highlights’. Can I say a massive thank you to all of those Nations who engaged this year, we had a great turnout! In addition, thanks to our colleagues in the InterLeft and TheFreeBloc for making this years N-day a fun and good learning experience for us all.

Anyways, here is my account from a The Region That Has No Big Banks perspective!

At 2201 BST (1701 EST) TRTHNBB officially initiated DEFCON procedures, we joined with fellow friends and colleagues from the InterLeft and TheFreeBloc. Calling our faction BoomBloc, where we amassed around 250 nations many of which were puppets. Making us the 11th largest faction in the whole of NationStates.

Many of our nations were excited to participate in their first official N-day! Over the course of the event we had many of our nations involved (sorry to anyone I may have missed) Socialistic Britain, Sicario Mercenary Corps, Vicky Germany, Pinevilla, Greater Drussi, XeriMerc, Lkandria, The Washington Federation, Yodle, Lemona, Rica Nardis, Kaidia and plenty more across TRTHNBB and BoomBloc as a whole.

Very early our orders were clear, many of us were prioritising shields or trying to get some early blood trying to take down the Fascist Solidarity Axis page=faction/fid=151. Plus many of us sporadically sending nukes to any nation which we felt like raining fire upon! All this early, excitement and at times dis-coordinated nature meant we had probably overextended. Therefore we drew too much attention to our faction. By around 20 minutes in we reached the top of the whole NationStates leaderboard. Luckily I managed to screenshot our majestic score of only 60.

So it’s fair to say that our excitement got the better of us, we most likely should have been stockpiling shields in readiness to defend ourselves! Our worse fears were soon realised after The Communist Bloc (TCB) issued an order to take down BoomBloc only 5 minutes after we reached top of the leaderboard.

Within minutes of the announcement. TCB with their 1000+ nation faction soon started to reign hell upon BoomBloc. Although the announcement requested 600 missiles be targeted upon us it wasn't long until that reached over 1000 targeted, and so the chaos & nuclear fallout began. At first, we were optimistic and managed to defend ourselves against the incoming missiles, however soon we began to run lower on shields and our around 400 shields were no match for the near 1000 which were being consistently sent in our direction. This meant very quickly we became overwhelmed and had to prioritise nations to defend. The command to just retaliate back to TCB was issued by TRTHNBB, however our firepower was a fraction of the TCB’s whom began to lead on the N-day leaderboards. It’s fair to say the command was issued more out of spite rather than having an real ability to get any real form of payback :D

At around an hour in, we suggested that everyone should keep their own nations safe, essentially an SOS command. Yodle also agreed and interjected that we should probably be focusing on producing shields to ensure we don’t get ‘blown to pieces’! At this point, many of our nations whom were firing nukes were also getting specifically targeted and therefore becoming radiated and weren't really able to switch their production back to shields. It was too late.

Socialistic Britain also questioned whether anyone within BoomBloc leadership had tried to contact TCB in order to arrange a ceasefire. In this case, we failed in our leadership abilities as nobody had attempted to reach out to TCB (as far I’m aware). Although at this point it was getting too late to resolve, as our score plummeted into the -1000s. The Washington Federation helpfully pointed out that we were 4th from last place which, to be honest, is an achievement in itself that we had managed to be so badly screwed over. It’s also worth noting that a surprising number of nations were being targeted with 69 nukes, our enemies definitely knew they had the upper hand and were having some fun it seemed :3

Although our security team attempted to put a positive spin on matters Sicario Mercenary Corps' encouragement was much appreciated. Morale however wasn’t improving. There was brief talk by Onionist Randosia, Artotzkiya and other colleagues in the InterLeft of forming a second faction or a potential merger with ‘Anime Nations Against Liberals’. Discussed via the BoomBloc HQ discord server however this sadly never progressed too far. Only just 1 hour and 30 minutes into N-day and already some nations had reached the point of helplessness, and some in the BoomBloc HQ signed off for the night. We did however have many defiant and fighting on to the end, Lkandria, Sicario Mercenary Corps, Socialistic Britain to name a few... The Washington Federation and co were already formulating and planning for next N-day, anything to ignore the massive failures of BoomBloc!

Ah yes and lest we forget many of us were subject to a blatant backstab from the one and only Pinevilla who parked many of their puppets in TCB. At first my nation was pretty unscathed through the relentless attacks from TCB. With thanks to the many people helping me defend XeriMerc and The Washington Federation to name some helpers! But soon the number of missiles being sent in my direction managed to stack up with 100+ missiles being sent from either Pinevilla or a few others targeting me from the TCB. Sicario Mercenary Corps made a last ditch attempt in order to rally the troops and issue TRTHNBB with their last order which was to protect me for as long as possible. However it was too late, Pinevillan missiles quickly overwhelmed me before any nation could come to my aid. New United Common-lands had fallen.

Pinevilla was also temporarily sent packing to the rejected realms for their treason, a moment which you could say Sicario Mercenary Corps had been waiting for :3 It was a similar story for Yodle who was also targeted by TCB attacks and not long after was overwhelmed and was also destroyed. Luckily other members of the Regional Government were not as viciously attacked so early on into N-day. Sadly, at around only 2 hours in we had amassed a negative score of -6500 & -7000 points.

Around 0150 BST (2050 EST) and to our surprise.. we almost got ourselves into a diplomatic incident when the Libertarian Socialist Confederation tried to arrange a ceasefire with BoomBloc. None of us were actually aware that nations within BoomBloc were firing upon Libertarian Socialist Confederation. Infact, Pinevilla was indeed the culprit yet again. So of course, we allowed LSC the opportunity to fire back relentlessly on Pinevilla. Later on that night I believe Pinevilla’s main account was taken down by XeriMerc, justice was served!

By the end of the event, we managed to reach the score of -15597 quite the achievement I’d say! If it’s any constellation we did manage to get a better score than The Communist Bloc who ended up with a score of -56026. And just like that N-day was over.

Well I hope you enjoyed my short coverage of N-day, and don’t fear we will be back next year with a vengeance, better organised and new found spirit! Sadly we didn’t really improve our position from last year. However there are many lessons we can take away from this time round and having more experienced foot soldiers and commanders will certainly help for next year :)
