History of the Rhien

After the creation of the confederation of the Rhien in 1806 following the beginnings of the Napoleonic wars it was a very large nation spanning from the French border to near Brandenburg. They confederation was a French puppet state which the people would not accept leading to riots through out 1806-1808 the French where able to crush these riots and there was relative peace through 1808-1812 but there was talk of a revolution and overthrow of French rule. The revolution was being planned for 1813 but after a decisive victory over France in Leipzig the nation was dissolved and much of the Rhien was taken by The German Confederation in 1815. The people of the Rhien wanted to govern themselves and started a revolution against The German Confederation. The war was relatively short to do the tactic of guerrilla warfare and the Confederation being still a new nation itself. The Rhien received backing from the French who wished to see that the Rhien would be buffer state between them and the new confederation. A treaty was signed in 1816 giving the Rhien much of western Germany to the Rhien. The First Kaiser was crowned in 1816 being the general of the army during the German-Rhien War Otto Gerwin. Much of the 1800's after this point where spent building the Rhien in an attempt to become a world power. Although in 1870 The German Confederation went to war with France in the Franco-Prussian war. Otto Gerwin being born in Prussia before moving to the Rhien in 1810 Decided to help the German Confederation. Although only 1 month into the fighting Otto Died of a heart attack at age 82 leaving his son Otto Gerwin II age 18 to fight the war. The Rhien Fought alone for the first month while the German Confederation started to funnel troops into the fighting in the Second Month After 3 Months at the Battle of Straßburg The French army on the front was destroyed and Alsace-Lorraine was occupied by both the Rhien in the north and the Germans in the south. After the Capture of Paris 4 months Later The Treaty of Straßburg was signed giving the New German Empire the south of Alsace-Lorraine and The Rhien the north. After the treaty was finalized in 1871 The German Empire and the Rhien Signed a Defensive Pact. Otto Gerwin Through most of his regin was very unpopular and was considered by many to be unfit even after the Victory during the Franco-Prussian war. In 1880 His close friend and advisor Waldemar Richtofen managed to convince him to leave the thrown but without a son Waldemar was named his successor. Waldemar being a strong supporter of the military started conscription and mandatory service for those 18-20. The army by 1890 was 1 million men. During the 1890's the Rhien started to industrialize at a fast pace but it could not keep up with those such as Britain. In 1900 Waldemar started to try and downsize the military in an attempted to free up more workers for factories. This lead to the army downsizing to 700,000 by 1910. In 1913 Waldemar realized a big was on the horizon but with his military downsizing he hoped that the Rhien would not be involved. In 1914 Austria Declared war on Serbia starting WW1. Waldemar decided to stay out of the war but sent advisers and equipment to Germany and Austria. In 1915 During some intense fighting in the western front France mistook The Rhien's border guards as German Troops and fired upon them killing 5 and wounding 11 more. Waldemar requested a formal apology from the French but they refused. The Rhien declared war on the French and help the Germans invade Belgium. By 1917 the war was a stand still The Rhien asked the Allied powers for negotiations an in 1918 they started. The Rhien was allowed to keep Belgium. The Rhien was made to pay a large debt and was made to stay neutral in any future war through 1950. Germany was given harsher terms leading to the Rise of Fascism in the 1930's. In 1939 WW2 began but as the WW1 Treaty stipulated The Rhien could not be involved but in 1940 Germany invaded the Rhien leading to Waldemar Calling on the allies for help. Germany took over and made it into France. Waldemar escaped to Switzerland. After the end of the war in 1945 the Borders of the Rhien were reinstated and the Rhien was given Alsace Lorraine as the French where treated as a conquered nation. in 1950 Waldemar Died at age 90 and his son Gunther Richtofen age 70 was Named Kaiser. After both wars the population was Destroyed leaving nearly only 3 million due to many dying or fleeing. Richtofen Decided to try and encourage immigration into the Rhien in 1980. Gunther Died in 1980, His son Detrich Richtofen was named Kaiser, Age 25. The Rhien started to Slowly recover and by 2018 economy was doing the best it had in years. Detrich Died pf a heart attack in 2020, his Son Edward Richtofen was named Kaiser aged 20.
