Origins of Stonewall720

There was once a time where Stonewall720 was not its own nation. There was another nation, The United States of America.

The United States of America was founded when the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 by many figures well known to history, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson. They sent the Declaration to Great Britain who rejected all of their grievances and ordered that they have become too rebellious.

The American Revolution occurred from 1775-1783 when British Redcoats and the Continental Army fought across much of the Northeast and all along the coast of the original 13 colonies. The war continued on between the two armies and with the help of guerrilla soldiers and the French military it was ended with an American victory at the Battle of Yorktown in 1781 and then the Treaty of Paris two years later in 1783. Thus begins the story of America.

When the USA was first starting out they tried to figure out a government structure. This led to the Articles of Confederation that was created in 1777 and lasted until 1789. This governmental structure had some strengths and weaknesses but ultimately it was futile in controlling the new nation. Because of this failure a Constitutional Convention was called to create a new document that would establish the United States government.

At the Constitutional Convention two plans were put forth, the New Jersey Plan based on equal representation among all the states and the Virginia Plan based on proportional representation. These two plans were compromised and combined to create the Constitution of the United States of America with the two house system and the compromise between proportional and equal representation.

When the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson took office in 1801 he used his French sympathies to ask the government of France to purchase land in the west. This became known as the Louisiana Purchase, which doubled the size of the United States and made them one of the largest nations in North America.

When this land was acquired a debate broke out about whether slavery would exist or not in the territories. This would lead to things such as the Missouri Compromise, The Kansas-Nebraska Act, and “Bloody Kansas”.

When president Abraham Lincoln, an anti-slavery candidate, was elected in 1860 the southern states became very, very angry. This led to the secession of South Carolina followed by many other southern states. In 1861 when southern confederate troops fired on Fort Sumter, war began.

The southern states formed their own Confederate States of America on February 8, 1861 with Jefferson Davis as their first president and General Robert E. Lee was established as the commander of the Confederate military. During the war a general by the name of Thomas J. Jackson became famous for a nickname he achieved during the Battle of Manassas in 1861. This general made headlines across the south and became a hero alongside General Lee for their victories at the Battle of Sharpsburg in 1862 and their resounding victory in 1864 at Gettysburg when Jackson led “Stonewall’s charge” which won the Confederate army the high ground and eventually the battle. In 1865 the Union border states of Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky, and Missouri seceded from the Union and joined the Confederacy due to the recent victories. On July 20, 1865 Confederate representatives and Union representatives met in Philadelphia to create a treaty to end the war. The Union agreed to hand over the Territory of Oklahoma, the Territory of Cuba, and Washington DC. The Confederacy appointed this day as their Independence Day and large celebrations occurred across the south.

When the Confederate Convention was held in Atlanta in 1867 a new Constitution was formed as well as a new name for their nation in honor of the second president of the Confederacy and war hero Stonewall Jackson as well as their Independence Day. This name is The Confederacy of Stonewall720.

In 1868 the government of the Confederacy was approached by the governor of the territory of Oklahoma, the Governor of Cuba, and chiefs from the Native American tribes. The governors of Oklahoma and Cuba asked for Confederate statehood and the Native American chiefs asked for representation and recognition by the country. Both territories were granted statehood and small reservations were created for the natives and they were granted representation in government.

This is the complete history of The Confederacy of Stonewall720 as issued by the Fourth Confederate Congress on January 14, 1871 with the approval of the states of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Cuba, Union of Native American Reservations, and Oklahoma.
