The Republic of Shadow Wizard is a mammoth, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws and stringent health and safety legislation. The democratic population of 6.327 billion Shadow Wizardians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The relatively small, liberal, socially-minded, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Healthcare, and Welfare. The average income tax rate is 19.7%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The large but sluggish Shadow Wizardian economy, worth 122 trillion rubledollars a year, is quite specialized and mostly made up of the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Soda Sales and Information Technology. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 19,420 rubledollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Crime is well under control. Shadow Wizard's national animal is the hawk.

Shadow Wizard is ranked 263,060^th in the world and 1^st in The league of shadows for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 67 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
